Speaking to a camera can feel so bloody awkward when you first start making content for your business...
You hit record and suddenly forget how to talk like a normal person.
You start thinking about your voice, your face, what your hands are doing⦠all of it.
Thatās pretty much where everyone starts.
A few things that actually help:
ā”ļø Talk to one person, not āan audienceā
Pick a specific type of customer and speak like youāre explaining something to them across a table. It keeps you grounded and stops that weird āpresentingā tone.
ā”ļø Keep it short and messy
Donāt try to nail a perfect take. Say what you need to say, even if you stumble a bit. Most of the time the first or second take feels the most natural anyway.
ā”ļø Know your message
Be clear on what you want someone to take away from the video and why youāre even making it in the first place. When youāve got that, itās a lot easier to just speak and not overthink it.
No oneās expecting you to be a presenter. They just want to understand what you do and whether they trust you.
Get past the awkward stage, and youāre already ahead of most people.
