“My dog would never sit still for photographs!”

Rusty didn’t spend his entire visit sitting perfectly either. He was far too busy running around, investigating the studio and sniffing absolutely everything 🐶

That didn’t stop us from capturing these portraits.

Pet photography doesn’t require your dog to remain perfectly posed throughout the session. They are given time to explore, settle into the space, have plenty of attention and work in short bursts when they are ready.

Rusty’s curiosity also gave me the perfect opportunity to capture those little details, including that very boopable nose and his magnificent ears!

So if your dog is inquisitive, energetic or easily distracted, please don’t assume professional photographs aren’t possible. Their personality is part of what makes the photographs special 🐾

🎄 One thing people often say after their session is...

I never expect children to stand perfectly still and smile on command.

The definition of a very good boy 🐾

This handsome boy arrived at the studio freshly groomed and looking rather smart. He was incredibly well trained, so patient and an absolute dream to photograph.

His family had actually booked a cake smash for his little human brother, but of course, the family photographs wouldn’t have been complete without him too.

Just look at those eyes and magnificent ears! 🐶

Dogs are part of the family, so they are always welcome to be included in your family photographs at the studio.

Meet Rusty 🐾

Rusty came along with his family for their newborn session because their first family photograph together simply wouldn’t have been complete without him.

He absolutely loved exploring the studio, running around and sniffing every corner before coming back for plenty of strokes and cuddles from me. He was such a funny, affectionate little character and I loved having him there.

His family have chosen to keep their photographs private, which I will always respect, but they kindly gave me permission to share Rusty’s portraits.

Just look at that face and those perfectly alert ears! 😍

Pets are part of the family too, and where possible, they can be included in your family photographs when arranged before your session.

A day late, but let’s be honest, dogs deserve celebrating every day 🐾

Happy International Dog Day to all the wonderful dogs I’ve had the pleasure of photographing over the years. From perfectly posed pups to the wonderfully chaotic ones who would much rather explore, play and cover me in kisses, every one of them has brought their own personality to their session.
