Well its been a long time coming, but I now only have around 36 miles left to cover, in order to complete my one year challenge in the virtual Lands End to John O'Groats walk.
I started this journey and my fundraiser back in July last year, at a point when I knew my brother was heading in one direction towards the final throws of his life.
My aim was to complete this challenge in a timely manner and also to raise some much needed cash for the good people at Macmillan Cancer Research.
My walking was going so well and I began to feel fitter, slowly losing a bit of the excess timber I've been carrying around...
I knew I could do this, but sadly, in early September, my brother passed away and all at once, I completely lost my Mojo....
The activity walks stopped and for about 5 months, I was only doing my everyday walking, which some days didn't equate to much...
The endpoint seemed further and further away, but when I eventually tallied up all of those 'normal day' steps, it seemed to make the challenge seem much less daunting..
Eventually, after beginning to reduce my daily calorie intake, and losing around 20 lbs, I began to walk again and with some purpose...
So here I am, still missing my brother every day, but doing this challenge in his memory, which makes it much easier to contend with.
I'd love for you to help me if you can... If you are able, would you please consider making a donation to the charity. This will spur me on to complete my final 36 miles and help me to remember the good that was my brother. Macmillan helped Neil and his family so much in his last months of life and I'd really like to help them carry on with their wonderful work.
If you can help me, please donate using the link below.
Thank you
Chris.
