✨ Why I’ve Set Up a GoFundMe ✨
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share something important with you all. I’ve created a GoFundMe page to help support the project that means a lot to me. This project is all about gathering as many stories as possible—real experiences, real voices, real people.
These stories have the power to inspire, connect, and make a difference. But to collect them properly, present them well, and take this project where it needs to go, I need a bit of help. Your support—whether through donating, sharing the GoFundMe link, or contributing your own story—would truly make an impact.
Every contribution helps me reach more people, preserve more stories, and bring this project to life in the way it deserves.
If you can support in any way, big or small, it would mean the world to me. ❤️
Thank you for being part of this journey.

Maps of the world

I just wanted to take a moment to say how incredibly grateful I am for the amazing response I’ve had about the memorial plaque / “death penny.”

What started as a simple post has reached so many people — from veterans and families across the UK and all the way up to Scotland, to kind-hearted folks in Vancouver, and even as far as South Africa. I’m honestly blown away by the messages, stories, and support that have been shared with me.

Thank you to everyone who reached out, offered information, or simply showed kindness. It’s touching to see how deeply these pieces of history connect us, no matter where in the world we are.

Your help and compassion mean more than you know. ❤️🌍

Engraved in Absence: The Memorial Plaque Project

The Death Penny Project preserves the personal stories behind the bronze memorial plaques given to families of fallen First World War service members. Many of these plaques—and the histories they represent—are quietly disappearing from memory.

I have begun photographing these plaques and capturing video interviews with families who still hold them, documenting the legacy of their loved ones. Each story is a powerful reminder of sacrifice, loss, and the way history continues to shape our lives today.

I am raising funds to continue travelling to meet more families, complete this documentary work, and publish a book that weaves together their stories, portraits, and historical context. Your support will also help create a public exhibition to share these voices with a wider audience and ensure that these lives are never forgotten.

By contributing, you are helping preserve a part of our collective history—one family, one story, and one plaque at a time. Details as follows Pinnacle peak photography sort code 040003 account number 46954497 all contributions will be gratefully accepted
