Just when I think I’ve seen every kitchen worktop option out there, throw another one into the mix.

This striking blue marble-effect surface was a new one on me — specially shipped into the UK and lifted into place by a small army from the kitchen team.

But what a result!

Blink, and you miss it!

I photographed this superb house on the outskirts of Guildford town centre just before a short hop across to the continent for a few days this week — and I was pleased to see that almost as soon as it hit the market, it was snapped up!

I’m also fairly sure I photographed this property many moons ago; however, on that occasion it was an empty shell. It was so lovely to see it full of heart and soul this time around.

I find it hard to remember a time when the kitchen wasn't the hub of the home, and with a kitchen as welcoming and spacious as this, I can imagine it's barely ever empty!

Who wouldn't want to spend their time in this room? Crafted by the kitchen itself is utterly beautiful, with all the mod cons we expect from a kitchen these days, and it blends beautifully with the family area, complete with its tasteful decor and pops of colour.

It feels calm yet, in a way, dramatic as a result of the island which is painted in Inchrya Blue.

The sleek choice of lighting also works its magic in creating a kitchen that is truly a room you want to spend a lot of time in.

This sleek Guildford apartment oozes style and sophistication with statement pieces of furniture and eye-catching artwork that both command your attention as you walk around from room to room.

It's another example of a property that has been furnished with good composition in mind, giving me plenty to work with in the photography department, aided only with a carefully placed wine glass or teapot here and there 😀

Having grown up in Guildford, I've walked and driven past this house on so many occasions, so I consider it an honour that I had the opportunity to visit and take some photos on behalf of

Being such an historic property, this home has been through many changes over the years and it was a pleasure to learn from the current owners how they painstakingly converted it back into a residential home after it had served as offices for a number decades.

This shoot took place during the final few weeks of the summer when the garden was in full bloom and I think we can all agree that it is beautiful and perfectly complimented by the backdrop of the castle walls.

Something I like to ponder on when I'm photographing apartments in converted Manor houses is what they would have been like in their heyday.

Who would have lived there? How did they spend their time in the house? What was it like when it was originally built? Which part of the old house am I currently photographing?

The detail in part of this beautiful apartment is quite intricate, from the panelling in the sitting room, to the carvings around the fireplace. Simply beautiful!

I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, but they just don't build them like this anymore!

They just don't build 'em with details like this anymore.

This charming and historic home in Haslemere carries with it the kind of detail I love to see in and outside a Victorian home.

And if walls could talk, I bet these ones would have some stories to tell.
