Last week I had the pleasure of photographing ZBM Veterinary Physiotherapy during lovely Sika's physiotherapy treatment.

🐾 Did you know veterinary physiotherapy can benefit almost every dog? 🐾

When we think about physiotherapy, we often think about recovery after an injury, but it's also very beneficial for overall health, helping to keep your dog mobile and active, improving sports performance and for managing conditions such as arthritis, neurological conditions, hip dysplasia and so much more.

Helping dogs to be comfortable, preventing future problems and supporting their overall health and wellbeing.

Zoe is a Veterinary Physiotherapist which means the manual therapies, electrotherapies and remedial exercises she applies are scientifically supported to optimise and restore animal's musculoskeletal and neurological health. She is fully qualified with a Level 7 Masters of Science Degree, fully insured, and a member of both the National Association of Veterinary Physiotherapists and the Register of Animal Musculoskeletal Practitioners.

I have known Zoe for a good few years now, she regularly treats my horse Prince and my mum's three dogs. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a physiotherapist!

I'll be sharing some of Zoe's recommended exercises and stretches for dogs in coming weeks, with the benefits of each and who they are best suited for, so keep an eye out!

If you're interested in finding out more about what physiotherapy is and how it can be beneficial for dogs, take a look at Zoe's website zbmvetphysio.com🐶

A beautiful dog walking area, nestled behind a housing estate in Crowborough, if you're local you probably already know about this one! Washes park is very popular among Crowborough dog owners and is often busy, understandable given the beautiful area that it is!

A few favourites from a recent session photographing Maya, Aji, Alma, Chemi, Chola and Inti at their home farm.

It's quite a mission to photograph 6 dogs at once so to capture these, each dog was photographed on their own. They were all quite confused about what we were asking them to do so they were also photographed on a lead which was later removed during retouching.

"Liv did a fantastic job wrangling our six dogs who range from 14 down to a pair of 3 month old puppies. It was slightly like herding cats but she was great with all of them and we have some wonderful photos as a result. Really happy and I'd recommend Liv for any photos you want of your beasts. She also did some horses photos for me a few years ago and again they were amazing! Thanks Liv!"

Come with me to photograph 6 month old puppy Buster and his parents ❤️

After months of sun, we were very unfortunate to have scheduled the photoshoot on a rainy day but we carried on anyway and the results are beautiful! I can't wait for the gallery reveal on Saturday. Buster was an absolute superstar and did everything we asked, even though he hates the rain, it didn't phase him 🐾

Caught in the moment, Winnie trotting to her dad 🐾

Often the unposed moments are the favourites, showing real connection and story. Although this photo started as a posed image with Winnie stood in the path, I caught this just as she moved and I love how she's looking up in adoration 🤍

It's easy to think 'my dog would never do that' when all you see is the finished image and not the careful planning and patience that went into creating it.

A lot of my portfolio and the photos I share on social media only show the end result after hours of retouching, so I thought you might enjoy seeing what goes into creating some of the photos.

The reason I always suggest bringing someone with you to help us with posing, is because of this.... without two people to work with the dog (Ren), it would not have been possible to create this photograph which would make a beautiful wall art piece.

Whilst I was about 20m away, Dan supported Ren to stand on the log, staying beside her to give her confidence and hold her lead, whilst Jess holds a ball to get Ren's attention in the right direction. As soon as I captured the shot, Jess, Dan and Ren all moved out of the frame so I could grab an empty scene which allowed me to piece together this final photo.

This was one of the more complicated photos of the session, but it was super helpful to have two people working with Ren throughout the session to help position her and get her looking in various directions whilst I captured the moment. I'll always direct you and show how to get your dog into position, this is generally all very new to both you and your dog, and you don't need to know anything about dog training at all, just follow my direction and it usually works out a lot easier than you would think! Many of the photos you see online, are carefully pieced together to create artwork, and a photoshoot does involve positive reinforcement (treats) and learning.

Autumn is fast approaching... arguably the one of BEST time of year for photoshoots with beautiful colours all around!

Woodland locations make for beautiful backdrops in Autumn and the temperatures are so much better for dogs to be out and about, andddd... golden hour is so much earlier in the day giving us the most beautiful lighting!

Bookings are open for September and October sessions - to find out more about dog photography sessions, send me a message 🐾

How do I get dogs to stand like this on tree roots and similar things in the forest?

With patience, a whole lot of positive reinforcement, treats and many strange noises to grab their attention 🤣

For most dogs, this is quite an unusual task we are asking of them, why on earth would they want to stand with their front feet on top of something and then stay there when they want to explore the forest?

I always approach this with a treat in my hand, held in front of the dogs nose and luring them up to where I would like them to be. As soon as they place their feet on the tree root, they get the treat. It usually does take a few attempts, building up to them standing there for a longer distance through repetition and good timing with the reward so they can understand what we are asking. Most dogs pick this up very quickly and it always makes for a super cute photo just like this!

Do you think your dog would be confident to try something like this? Let me know in the comments!
