One of things I'm doing at the moment is training to be a volunteer signalman on the wonderful Severn Valley Railway. I used to do it as my job on the big railway and it's nice to give a bit back to help keep this fantastic piece of heritage going for future generations as well as helping with the local economy, which the railway brings in along the route. It's also quite nice to play trains for the day! Here's a heritage Class 40 loco pulling into Highley yesterday, with the driver and my signalling colleague exchanging tokens which act as permission for the train to travel between the various sections of the line.
