Goytre Football Club - Official and Blaenavon Blues were forced to share the spoils on Friday night as their Elite Stands UK Ardal South derby finished in a goalless draw under the Plough Road floodlights.

Both teams had their opportunities during the match but ultimately were unable to make the decisive breakthrough to secure victory. Goytre remain unbeaten after three leagues matches and stand in fifth position after their opening three league fixtures following yesterday's matches. Blaenavon Blues extended their unbeaten run to four matches in all competitions. The Plough Road club turn their attention to the Welsh Cup on Friday night when they head to Novira Cymru South Club Afan Lido. Meanwhile, the Blues will be looking to extend their good form when they travel to lowly Undy on Saturday afternoon

Brecon Corries AFC recorded consecutive Elite Stands UK Ardal South East victories following a combative 2-0 win over Tredegar Town Afc this afternoon at the Rich Field.

The hosts broke the deadlock in a tense encounter when capatin Dale Evans netted his third league goal of the campaign with a trademark free-kick from just over 20 yards from Andrew Hargreaves' goal. Tredegar Town had the ball in teh Corries' net on two occasions, in either half of the match, but on both occasions were denied by an offside flag. Damien Daniels' charges secured their third win in their last four fixtures in all competitions when Craig Evans broke into the visitors' penalty area and calmly slotted past Hargreaves from close-range. Brecon Corries will look to build upon this result when they travel to promoted New Inn next Saturday before hosting unbeaten Abergavenny Town the following Saturday.

Llandrindod Wells FC consolidated their position at the head of the Watson Financial Mid Wales League South following a 3-0 victory over hosts Hay St Mary's last night at Forest Road.

The two teams came into the top of the table match both holding 100% records and the Saints has not conceded a goal in their opening three fixtures. It appeared the rivals would be heading into the half-time break on level terms but the Spa Men broke the deadlock in the third minutes of stoppage-time. Ryan Sims broke into the penalty area to be denied by Sam Powell in the Hay St Mary's goal but Darren Murphy was on hand to tuck home the rebound. The league leaders doubled their advantage in the 68th minute, when the host's appeals for a foul were turned down, and Louie Francis' cross from the edge of the penalty area was finished by Sims. The scoring was completed with four minutes remaining on the clock when Murphy's cross from near the right-hand corner flag took a wicked deflection and looped over the ahead of Powell to find its way into the net.

Talgarth Town Ladies FC launched their South Wales Women's & Girls League First Division campaign this afternoon with a 3-1 victory over Pontypridd AFC at the King George V Playing Fields.

The two teams had shared the spoils at the end of last season with a 2-2 draw and today's meeting was another highly-competitive encounter. The Royals broke the deadlock after four minutes when Caitlin O'Shea ran on to a Kristy Rea through ball before finishing past the advancing Hazel Boyd in the Pontypridd goal. The lead was doubled 11 minutes later when Jade Perry fired a shot into the roof of the net from the edge of the penalty area after being picked out by O'Shea. The visitors halved the deficit in the 34th minute when Talgarth Town custodian Meg Ryan denied Brook Morgan with her legs but Kate Hughes was on hand to score from the rebound. Pontypridd were reduced to ten players in the 58th minute when Hughes was dismissed by referee Paul Curtis. The Royals regained their two-goal buffer three minutes later after breaking quickly from defending a corner and O'Shea played in Molly Ikin to find the back of the net and make a winning start to the new season.

Radnor Valley FC netted a stoppage-time penalty to defeat reigning Manderwood Pembrokeshire League champions Hakin United Football Club 3-2 in a dramatic FAW Amateur Trophy first round tie this afternoon at The Bypass.

A goalless opening 45 minutes provided few clues as to how the final quarter of the match would unfold on a bright afternoon in the Radnorshire borderlands. The Goats finally broke the deadlock in the 71st minute when talisman Joey Price was picked out in the penalty area by Jack Gittoes before twisting and turning to fire a fierce shot into the far corner of the net. The Vikings levelled the cored seven minutes later when Scott Ferney was on hand to turn home Cameron Brunton's low cross along the face of Will Fowden's goal. The hosts regained the lead when former Kington Town forward Gittoes rose highest at the far post to powerfully head home from an 87th minute Joey Price corner. Just when it appeared that the Lock Stock Ardal North East club were poised to win the tie it was the turn of substitute Liam Parks to equalise for Hakin United five minutes later with a spectacular overhead kick following a corner. The match appeared to be heading towards a penalty shoot-out until referee Paul Curtis awarded a 98th minute penalty and Price stepped forward to convert the spot-kick for his second goal of the afternoon in a remarkable finale to the cup tie.

Hay St Mary's FC maintained their winning start to the Watson Financial Mid Wales League South campaign following a narrow 1-0 victory over Presteigne St.Andrews Football & Social Club last night under the Forest Road floodlights.

The border rivals came into the match after both teams had won their opening two league fixtures without conceding a goal. A tense and highly-competitive contest was settled when Charlie Ward netted his fourth goal of the season, four minutes before the interval, after breaking into the penalty area and firing a low shot past former Hereford FC goalkeeper Shay Sterry. The Saints will be attempting to maintain their 100% record when they welcome league leaders Llandrindod Wells to Forest Road on Tuesday night. Presteigne St Andrews will hope to bounce back from their first reverse of the campaign when they travel to Llanidloes Town Reserves next Friday evening.
