Today marks 50 YEARS of FUJIFILM UK and Ireland in the UK 🎉

To mark the occasion, I want to put a spotlight on their iconic rangefinder cameras, and how they have helped shape the work that I create.

From analogue to the larger format GFX cameras, each one has their own characteristics, but all share that classic build style.

I was actually quite late to the party when it comes to this type of camera, and I didn’t actually pick up my first rangefinder until 2021.

However, the moral of the story is to keep expanding your mind and trying new things!

The best thing about photography is that there’s always something new to learn or experiment with 💡

Feels good to be sharing images of my first wedding of 2026! ☺️🎉

My wedding season officially began at the end of May, starting with the lovely Alex & Ben Slapton Manor

2019 was the last time I was at Slapton, and it’s safe to say my work has changed a bit since then!

This year I’ve been experimenting lots with instant film too, and Alex & Ben’s day was my debut shooting this format on a wedding day.

The energy that surrounds a wedding reception is a huge contrast to the chilled vibes at the start of the day!

I love roaming the dancefloor with a camera in hand, capturing guests lost in the music & in a state of euphoria.

By working with a mixture flash photography & available light, I like to provide couples with images from a range of visual aesthetics.

Flash photography lends itself to vivid imagery that feels full of energy, whereas images created in available light feel softer & translate well to black & white.

For Laura & Harry, I got to do a mixture of both, and by the end of the day I had blended into my surroundings so much that I almost felt like I was a guest with a camera!

Wherever a ceremony takes place, it usually follows some sort of structure.

It’s the little things though, that make each wedding so unique & different.

Whether it’s the music, reading, personal vows or even small children dropping classic one liners when the room goes quiet, they’re all things people remember!

When it’s possible for me to do so, I like making the most of the entire space to capture photographs from different parts of the room.

I love stepping back to capture that wide shot of the whole room, so that you really get a sense of everyone sharing the experience together.

I also like getting in close (but not too close! 😜) to capture emotion & key details.

Richard & Scott’s unforgettable day was so fun to shoot, and I especially enjoyed capturing the space in a symmetrical style.

Every great story should grab your attention during the first chapter, and a wedding album shouldn’t be any different.

During the morning preparations, I always try to push myself to create pictures that catch the viewers eye, encouraging them to stay for a while.

I find that the slower pace of the morning preparations always puts me in the right headspace for the day ahead.

Not only do I have plenty of time to say hello to the wedding party in a chilled environment, but it’s the perfect opportunity to slow down & creatively warm up.

Intentional image making is what I’m all about.

| Creative Block, Finding Inspiration & Satisfying Your Needs As A Photographer |

In the last few months, my attitude towards sharing my work on Instagram has changed quite a bit.

This all started when I recently bought a photography book, by an artist whose work I studied way back during my days at university.

After visually digesting the pictures for a second time round, my mind was blown (again).

I then started questioning everything about the pictures I take, how I present them & also what the hell do I even say about them in the caption?!

Up until now, I’ve always felt the pressure of posting just for the sake of it, almost as a way of reminding people that I’m out & about shooting weddings!

So, my new approach to sharing my work might be on the slow side, but in the long run it will mean that I’m really happy & content with my Instagram portfolio.

Also, a big shout out to the community of wonderful photographers from .cc for keeping me inspired over the last year.

Since joining their group it’s been so handy having a support network of talented individuals who offer advice, and who you can reach out to when needed 🫶

August last year was a bit of a crazy time for me, with lots going on in both my work and personal life.

This is probably the reason why I haven’t shared the lovely Lora & Jimmy’s s wedding until now, but better late than never!

Their day took place at the family home, surrounded by all their favourite people & those closest to them.

It was also right on my doorstep too, so it was nice to work locally for a change!

I couldn’t have asked for a more chilled out atmosphere, and from the get-go everyone made me feel so welcome.

I’m really happy with their pictures though, and glad I spent that extra bit of time curating my favourites before sharing them on social media.

The upright piano makes the main reception room feel extra homely.

I’ve witnessed guests wander over to it tentatively, fully aware that any notes they play will be heard from other rooms in the house 🙈

In terms of candid photography, the piano is great for setting a scene.

It creates a place of interest, curiosity & creativity.

I took this photograph shortly after bride Katherine walked down the stairs to greet family and friends.

It was a lovely moment of calm, before the literal storm which was taking place outside! 😅

I’m really glad I waited around for an extra couple of minutes to witness Katherine playing a couple of notes herself!
