Gary Holpin Photography Professional photographer and Devon specialist, offering training and commercial photography
(1)

I am Devon specialist, capturing the beauty of the county that I am lucky enough to call home. I love sharing my passion for Devon, and for photography through my one-to-one tuition and residential weekend courses in association with Mazzard Farm. If you like my landscapes, they are of course available for sale as downloads, prints and canvas prints,

I also offer commercial photography to Devon businesses, specializing in tourist attractions and interior photography for B&B and other holiday acommodation providers.

It’s not every day that photography training comes with such a generous and delicious thank you.

A big thank you to Sharpham Cheese for these lovely artisan cheese gifts, which will be very much enjoyed this weekend.

It was a pleasure to spend the morning with the team at the dairy, and I hope the photography training session was useful.

Morning!

Did you see the eclipse last night? If not, don't worry there is a partial eclipse next year, and a total eclipse in September 2090 if you can wait that long!

Although I haven't been out much with my camera recently, I obviously wasn't going to miss the eclipse, so was at the iconic Devon landmark of Brent Tor yesterday to record the whole event.

You're probably fed up of eclipse photos already, but here are mine, including all the people (and photographers) on the tor itself waiting for the eclipse, a collage of the different phases of the transit from first contact around 6.18pm to the maximum at 7.15pm, a close up shot of the 'Pacman' phase (can you see the sunspots?) and just after the maximum eclipse as the sun sat above the tor.

Hope you like them!

Gary

Good morning! I haven't posted for ages - partly because paid work has been so busy, and partly because constant blue skies and sunshine are not very inspiring for landscape photography.

However, I decided last night to get the camera out for a shot that I've had in mind for over a year and never got round to - a full moon rising over Abbotsbury Chapel, Dorset.

So, here are a few shots from yesterday's full Buck Moon rising over the old chapel at dusk....

Have a great week, and see you soon (when I've found the time to get out with the camera!)

Take care. G x

Good morning! As I've been out with the camera recently, I thought I would give you a today! Which of these Dartmoor photos is your winner? 1 (Kennick reservoir, pier in the distance), 2 (reservoir, pier close up), 3 (River Avon waterfall landscape) or 4 (waterfall portrait)?

Have a great Sunday! 🙂

Morning! I was in Cornwall for work last week. I had a free evening so decided to head over to the famous poppy fields of Pentire Head near Newquay for sunset. Although the poppies were not quite at their best (probably another week or so), it was definitely worth it for the amazing sunset sky that developed! Here are a couple of photos....

Hello! How is everyone? It's been a long time since I posted anything on Facebook so thought I would just say Hi.

Although I don't intend posting regularly, I may pop along and post now and then when I have some new photos to share.

I've been changing my approach to photography over the last year - less about sunrises and sunsets and more about capturing mood and using artistic approaches such as black and white and Intentional Camera Motion.

So, here is a selection of some of the photos I've taken over the last few months - hope you like them. Can you guess where they were taken?
