Komorebi 1

I've been wanting to capture the beautiful oak tree near the Lynch Lake Community Hub in for a quite some time. I created this impressionistic image by photographing the tree from different angles, blending the images together and adding various textures to give a painterly feeling.

Seedhead Structures 6/6

Silene vulgaris (Bladder campion)

In this series I employed black and white photography to draw attention to the aesthetic value of the structures that can be found in a variety of different seedheads.

Bladder campion is one of the food plants of the red-and-black froghopper, the insect responsible for creating the frothy masses often called ‘cuckoo-spit’.

Seedhead Structures 5/6

Heracleum sphondylium (Hogweed)

In this series I employed black and white photography to draw attention to the aesthetic value of the structures that can be found in a variety of different seedheads.

Hogweed is a native plant to the UK (unlike giant hogweed) and produces umbrellas of white flowers which are attractive to a range of insects.
