I haven't been very active on here recently.Social media isn't my favourite thing to do.
Apparently, running a photography business now requires being a photographer, editor, customer service department, website designer, accountant, marketing expert, content creator, social media manager and probably a part-time magician too.
A few of my clients have already been checking in because I haven't shared any images from their newborn sessions yet. Don't worry, I haven't disappeared. 😆
The truth is, behind the scenes I've been juggling a few large projects, editing galleries, planning a new product launch and completely redesigning my website from scratch. Why?
Because Google has once again decided it has a new set of rules and requirements. So instead of spending months doing things that actually make my clients happy, I'm spending months convincing Google that I exist.
Fun times.
I'm also a little behind on editing at the moment, but I'm working my way through everything as quickly as I can and doing my best to catch up.
So if you've noticed I've gone a bit quiet, that's why.The good news?
There are some exciting things coming soon.
The bad news?I still have approximately 17 jobs that should probably be done by at least 4 different people.
So bear with me.I'll get back to regular posting at some point.

Ideally, I'm looking for a baby who can come to the studio next week or the week after.

The last thing you want to do after having a baby is travel across half the county for a photoshoot.Let's be honest...
Getting yourself dressed is a win.Remembering where you put your phone is a win.Knowing what day it is? Elite level parenting.
And now you're supposed to arrive somewhere with a tiny human who seems personally offended by schedules.I know.I've been there.That's why I've made my newborn sessions as easy as possible.
All you need to do is show up at my studio.On time.(Sorry. I can't help you with that part. 😆)
Once you're here, you can hand over the baby and relax.
The snacks are waiting for you because there's a very good chance breakfast never happened.
The coffee is waiting too.And not the sad instant coffee that's been sitting in the cupboard since 2018.I'm a coffee freak, so I take this very seriously.
You'll get the Wi-Fi password.You'll get a comfy seat.You'll get a chance to breathe.
And while you're recovering from the last few weeks of complete chaos, I'll work my magic with your little one.No stress.No need to know how to pose.No need to bring a car full of props.
Just bring your baby and yourself.

One of the reasons I don't let customers choose the time for outdoor family sessions.
Every summer I get messages like:
"It's such a beautiful sunny day! Can we meet at 12pm or 1pm?"
And every time I read that message, I have to resist the urge to throw myself dramatically into the nearest hedge.Not because I have lunch plans.Because that's literally the worst possible time to photograph you.I know. It sounds completely backwards.
Sunny day = great photos, right? Wrong!!!!❌❌
At 12pm the sun is directly above your head trying its absolute best to give you:panda eyes,shiny foreheads,squinty eyes,random shadows across your face,skin tones that look like you've spent a week on a budget airline to Tenerife.
Then when I suggest meeting at 8pm or even 9pm, people look at me like I've completely lost the plot.
But the beautiful images you see on my website?
The soft light.The golden glow.The dreamy colours.The gorgeous skin tones.
That's not because I sprinkled Photoshop fairy dust on them afterwards.That's because of the light.
And unfortunately I still haven't figured out how to negotiate with the sun to move golden hour to 2pm.Trust me, I've tried.😅
I know late evening sessions can be challenging, especially with younger children, and I always try to find the best compromise possible.
But if you've ever wondered why photographers become slightly obsessive about sunset times...
Now you know 😌

Photography business changes so quickly lately that honestly sometimes I feel like by the time I understand one social media trend, another 17 already appeared and died.
I’m currently planning quite a few changes in my business and I’m genuinely curious about something.
What is actually the MAIN factor when you decide to book a photographer?
Is it maybe quality of work,price,photographer's personality,location,recommendations,style,social media presence,feeling comfortable or maybe you are simply here for entertainment and would never actually book a session?
No hard feelings.
No judgement.

I’ve just come back from prom suit shopping for my boy.

Oh boy… he looks GORGEOUS!

There is absolutely no chance he’s escaping a photoshoot now. I can already hear the dramatic sighs and eye rolling from here.
“Muummm please no.”

Sorry son, but one day you’ll thank me when you realise your mother was documenting your peak 😌

Boys usually act like being photographed is a violation of human rights.
Girls? Completely different story 😂

Most of them secretly dream about the full glam moment.
The dress. The hair. The makeup.
Feeling like a Hollywood star for one evening.

And trust me… after seeing the prices of prom dresses lately, those gowns deserve more than one night out before being banished to the wardrobe forever 😭

So I decided to create something special.

I often see posts in mums groups saying:
“I’m looking for a photographer that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.”
First of all, I would just like to reassure everyone that I still do not accept human limbs as payment. 😉Times are hard but not that hard.
But jokes aside…
I think many people genuinely believe photography is just pressing a button and magically beautiful images appear… and photographers are swimming in money vaults like Scrooge McDuck afterwards.
I wish.
The reality is usually quite the opposite.
That tiny newborn outfit the size of a loaf of bread costs the same as a decent adult coat.
The editing software?
You pay for one thing, then realise you need another thing for the first thing to work properly… and then another thing for that thing. At this point photography software is basically a Russian nesting doll of subscriptions
The equipment?
Camera, lenses, lighting… basically the price of a car.
And unlike a car, it doesn’t even drive me to Tesco.
And then there’s education.
Learning how to safely pose your baby.
Understanding light so you actually look your best instead of looking like you were photographed under Tesco car park lighting.
Knowing WHEN to click the shutter, not just randomly pressing it 700 times and praying for the best.

So no — people are not paying photographers just for “clicking a button.”
They are paying for the years of knowledge, experience and expensive mistakes that happen BEFORE clicking the shutter.
Hope this helps and you stop thinking photographers just turn up, press one button and go home rich😊
