I'm sure you've all now seen the news that the team will end in 2022. I'm not good with words - that's why I hide behind a camera, but I'll give it a bash.

I sent an email to and nearly 10 years ago asking if the new local cycling team needed a photographer. I expected them to say get lost, but they didn't, they gave a naive cycling photographer a chance.

I cannot thank them enough for giving me that chance. There's also too many riders to thank, sponsors and staff who have made the time at the team an amazing experience. It also gave me a chance to spend time with John Boy. Should really call him dad

Here's one of the first images I took with the team at the launch day in 2013. I never doubted that the team could go places, but I didn't think we'd end up having the success and get to the level we sit at now.

Well sports fans, that's it. 12th completed. Missed a couple of rounds with work. Had a bad day with the camera - the images I wanted didn't work how I wanted. The places I thought would work didn't work how I thought they would. Bad workman blames his tools.

The team fought at every round, sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. You learn, you move on, focus on what is next.

In life there's always a line. Whether or not you cross that line is always a decision you have to make with or without guidance. What if I did? What if I didn't?

If you're the first to cross it, then it can change your life. Don't make it over that line and you get asked questions or you question yourself.

There's rules and lines, break them, cross them or bend them - for better or for worse.

Whilst the team were having a pre-race meeting and kitting up yesterday in Galashiels I went on a mission for coffee and to look for some locations to shoot from.

Luckily I caught a local artisan bakery before they closed up for the day and popped in to see if I could use their window display for a quick image.

The 2 staff members were super friendly and wanted to know more about the tour series, cycling in general and also a quick chinwag about the state of the roads, local councils and the weather. It was nice to connect with people again and just have a chat - I've missed that. Thank you to Alex Dalgetty & Sons for letting me use your window, your staff are a credit to the business.
