This weekend sees the return of the Salomon Skyline Scotland – and the very first edition of the Ben Nevis Skyline.

As part of the Salomon Golden Trail Series, this new race is pure Skyrunning: high-octane mountain racing across technical terrain and ridges, literally tracing the skyline of Ben Nevis and the Càrn Mòr Dearg Arete.

I’ll be out on the route with camera in hand, capturing the grit, energy, and beauty of the athletes pushing themselves in one of the toughest arenas in the world.

Massive credit to the team at Ourea Events – the organisation behind these incredible races. Their work in such challenging mountain conditions makes events like this possible.

Here are a few moments from previous years in Glencoe to set the scene – and I can’t wait to share what unfolds on Ben Nevis this weekend!

Dragon’s Back Race 2025 | 6 Days | 380km | Wales at its Wildest

What. A. Week.
Still drying out, still sorting kit, and still processing everything we saw and shot on this year’s Dragon’s Back Race.

It was a privilege once again to work with the fantastic Ourea Events team — delivering one of the most iconic and demanding mountain races in the world. From the truly biblical conditions on Day 1 (I’m not sure I’ve ever been so wet as I was on the Pyg Track…) to the blue skies and sweeping views that closed out the week — this race had it all.

Huge respect to every athlete who took on the challenge — Dragons and Hatchlings alike — and massive congratulations to David Parrish and Holly Wootten for taking the overall wins.

I’ll be sharing a full highlight gallery in the coming weeks once I’ve had time to dig through the dust, the rain, and the memories.

Until then, hats off to everyone who made the 2025 edition one to remember.

🚴‍♀️ Five and a half days. 2,700km. One unbelievable human.
A few weeks back, I had a chance roadside encounter with Dr Sarah Ruggins on the A9 — just as she was powering through the final stretch of her John o’ Groats to Land’s End and back world record attempt.

Headwinds, hills, sleep deprivation, and a heroic supply of Mars Bars didn’t stop her. Neither did the fact she only started cycling three years ago—after losing the ability to walk as a teenager.

She’s now the fastest person ever to complete the full JOGLE x2 route.
📸 I was lucky enough to grab a few quick frames as she flew by.

It's always good to see old images reappearing - I remember this day well, as I had a slight over-bars incident - not embarrassing at all as I was riding with a fantastic group of local pro riders 😳 and I needed a new helmet afterward's!

Join Us for Our OPEN DAY!
28th of September 12-4pm

Our mission? To raise funds for a life-saving Defibrillator to serve the wonderful South Kessock community.

What’s Happening on the Day:

• The Highland Coffee Pod: Grab a cup of local goodness.
• Active Clothing: Explore the latest in activewear.
• Highland Supplement Centre: Get the best advice on supplements.
• Mini Workshop: Learn how to master Olympic lifting!
• Beat the Coach: Think you’ve got what it takes? Prove it!
• Newlands sports Therapy: Get yourself seen by the top massage therapist in Inverness.

• Raffle: Win big while supporting a great cause. (Will be dropping the prizes at the end of the month)

How You Can Help:

We’ll be sharing a GoFundMe link where you can donate and purchase raffle tickets. Every penny brings us closer to our goal!

Yesterday the road took me North from Inverness, over the Kyle of Tongue to Melness (Gaelic: Taobh Mhealanais) a locality comprising a group of small remote crofting and fishing townships, lying to the west of Tongue Bay on the north coast of Sutherland, and at the very top of Scotland .

As a special treat, we were joined by two artists on this year's Cape Wrath Ultra. Most days I would see former competitor, Elaine Bisson out on the trials, and despite carrying her painting kit, which must weigh almost as much as three cameras, she was always smiling!

A link to her work is in the comments below!
