Choosing your wedding venue sounds easy enough until you’ve found two or three that you genuinely LOVE and suddenly you’re completely stuck!

I’ve seen plenty of couples get to this stage and I think it’s one of the hardest parts of wedding planning. Especially when the venues are completely different but you can see yourself getting married at all of them. 😂

As your photographer, there are definitely things I notice about venues that you might not think about when you’re viewing them as a couple, so I’ve put together a few of the things I’d genuinely consider before making that final decision.

And remember, there isn’t necessarily a “better” venue. It’s about finding the one that works best for the kind of wedding you actually want to have.

THE “IN-BETWEEN” WEDDING PHOTOS // Not every photo needs a plan…some of my favourite wedding photos actually happen when I’m not really sure what’s about to happen either 😂.

I might be walking from one part of the day to another and spot something happening in the corner of my eye, or be taking portraits when something completely random sets you both off in hysterics.

Those are the parts I’m always looking out for because they make your gallery feel like it’s truly reflective of you, rather than a collection of polished images that were scheduled to happen.

And after the confetti has been swept away and the cake has been eaten, it’s pretty cool to have all those random little bits of the day documented too!

Save this for wedding photography inspiration, and if you’re still looking for your photographer, drop me a message. 🧡

A FUN AND GIGGLY PRE-WED AT BENNACHIE, ABERDEENSHIRE // Back in March, I met up with Lauren and Lewis for their pre-wedding shoot at the foot of Bennachie and I absolutely adored this one!

Firstly, the outfits 👌 They got the balance so right and I loved how the whole shoot came together. But mostly, I just loved photographing these two together. There was a LOT of laughing and it made the whole shoot feel so fun and very them.

And now we’re somehow at wedding week! Lauren and Lewis are getting married at Coos’ Cathedral later this week and I genuinely can’t wait to see them again, this time with all their favourite people there too.

Getting married in Aberdeenshire and thinking about a pre-wed? Drop me a message!

WEE WEDDING WHISPERS EP.9 // Caitlin and Dorian had the BEST table setting idea for their wedding at back in May.

Personalised tambourines with each guest’s name on them, doubling up as their place setting, made for a very noisy evening entrance for Cait and Dorian and then getting very well used once dinner was over 😂. The tambourine started life on the dinner tables, followed everyone into the evening and made their way onto the dancefloor, getting all the guests involved and adding so much to the atmosphere.

I love details like this because they weren’t just there to look nice, they were something their guests could actually enjoy on the day and something Caitlin and Dorian will hopefully still have to remind them of it all years from now. Such a cool idea. 🧡

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY THROUGH HANDS // Hands can say a lot. They show nerves, excitement, affection and other little moments of connection that happen throughout a wedding day without anyone really thinking about it.

These are the photos that can be easy to miss while everything else is going on, but they often end up being some of my favourites when I’m putting a gallery together.

Save this one if you love those little in-between wedding photos as much as I do. 🧡

THE BEST COMPLIMENTS I’VE HEARD AFTER WEDDINGS // I’m always chuffed when a couple, guest or fellow supplier tells me they love my work, but honestly some of the feedback that means the most to me is about how people felt having me there.

Being told they felt comfortable, their guests actually enjoyed having their photos taken or that I blended seamlessly into their day is exactly what I want to hear.

I know having your photo taken isn’t everyone’s favourite thing, so making it feel easy and relaxed is a big part of how I work. Just enough direction when you need it, and plenty of space to get back to enjoying yourselves!

Here are a few of my favourite compliments I’ve had from couples and guests that have made me smile recently. 🧡

If we’ve worked together, I’d absolutely love it if you could leave me a wee Google review about your experience. It genuinely helps other couples when they’re looking for their wedding photographer! 🫶

A GORGEOUS WINTER WEDDING AT GLEN CLOVA, CAIRNGORMS NATIONAL PARK // My last wedding of 2025 was Katie and Kev’s ceremony at Glen Clova Estate, and what a way to finish the year!

It was December, wet, windy and absolutely freezing, but the weather gave us the most moody, atmospheric photos with the mountains making the perfect Scottish backdrop.

Inside, the new barn at Glen Clova was looking gorgeous and cosy with the Christmas tree and lights all up. ✨

Katie and Kev are also a bit of a funny one because we actually met through my terrier, Arthur! They found him on Instagram while looking for a Welsh Terrier, we met at a dog park and fast forward a bit... I ended up photographing their wedding and they got a Welsh Terrier of their own. Who just happens to be Arthur’s nephew. 😂

They’re very much my sort of people. Outdoorsy, dog obsessed and always up for a good time with friends and family!

We also decided on the morning to do a completely impromptu first look. Kev was SO emotional seeing Katie, and then somehow still got emotional when she walked down the aisle. So if you’re worried a first look will take away from that moment, I can promise you it doesn’t. Katie and Kev are proof of that. 🤍

A pretty perfect way to finish my 2025 weddings.

If you’re planning a winter wedding in Aberdeenshire, I’d love to hear from you - my inbox is always open! 🧡

CHOOSING YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER? HERE ARE 10 QUESTIONS I’D ASK BEFORE BOOKING  // Finding a photographer whose work you both love is a fab place to start when wedding planning, but there are a few other key things to ask about before you make your decision.

How much direction will you get on the day? What happens if the weather changes? How much of your wedding will they actually photograph? What’s included in the package? And, perhaps most importantly, can you actually imagine feeling comfortable with them for the whole day?

I’ve put together this month’s blog with 10 questions I’d recommend asking before booking your wedding photographer, with practical things to consider if you’re currently planning your wedding day.

Read the full blog via the link in my bio and send to someone currently wedding planning! 🤍

I’ve always found it quite funny how differently a wedding day can be remembered by the people who were actually there. 🫶

As a couple, there are probably things that feel massive because you’ve spent months thinking about them. Meanwhile, your guests might remember something completely different. Sometimes I’ll be looking through a gallery afterwards and think, yep, I can already imagine someone mentioning that on the way home 😂

It’s always interesting seeing which moments seem to stick with people, especially the ones that weren’t necessarily the moments you expected them to remember. Have a wee scroll through and see what made the list…

What’s the one thing you’d love your guests to still be talking about afterwards? ↓
