A SPRING PRE WEDDING SHOOT AT NEWBURGH BEACH, ABERDEENSHIRE // Looking back at Rachel and Andrew’s pre wedding shoot at Newburgh Beach has made me even more excited for their wedding at Maryculter House at the end of next month!

Back in May, we spent the evening wandering along one of my favourite pre wedding locations in Aberdeenshire, making the most of the beach, the dunes and some gorgeous spring sunshine.

Of course, their cockapoo Freddie came along too and completely stole the show. There were plenty of zoomies, sandy cuddles and a good run around before settling in for a few family photos together. 🐾

I always love pre-wedding shoots because they’re such a relaxed way for us to get to know each other before the wedding day. By the time the day arrives, it already feels like we’re meeting up with familiar faces rather than strangers. 🧡

Roll on next month... I can’t wait to photograph these two all over again!

THE MOST UNDERRATED WEDDING PHOTO SPOTS AT MARYCULTER HOUSE // Across Aberdeenshire, we really are so lucky to have such a brilliant choice of wedding venues! One of the things I love most about shooting weddings at .house is finding new ways to use the beautiful spaces that are already there - both indoors and outdoors.

I love being able to explore this venue and find wee pockets that you might not immediately think of for photos, but that can create something really memorable for my couples. The outdoor ceremony archway, the Great Hall, the courtyard and Maryculter ‘beach’ all offer something completely different and it’s always fun finding new ways to photograph moments within them.

Even when I’m back shooting another wedding at Maryculter House the following week, there’s always a new way to use the venue spaces to create something special for each couple!

If you’re getting married at Maryculter House, hopefully this gives you a few extra ideas when you’re thinking about your own wedding photos.

Save this for wedding photo and venue inspiration. 🧡

THAT ‘WE DID IT!’ WALK BACK DOWN THE AISLE // If I had to pick one moment that sums up how a wedding day actually feels, it’d probably be this one.

The ceremony is over, the nerves have disappeared and you can finally celebrate the fact that you’re both officially married.

I love looking back through galleries and seeing how different every couple is during this moment and how they react! Some are straight into cheering, some go in for a dip kiss and others are so busy looking at each other they forget everyone else is there!

Whatever your reaction looks like, it’s always one of the best moments of the whole day and one I never get tired of shooting.

Send this to your fiancé and save it for wedding ceremony photo inspo. 🧡

Something I hear quite a lot from grooms is that they’re not worried about getting married... they’re just not quite sure what happens when the camera comes out. 😂

A lot of wedding planning and photography naturally focuses on the bridal side of things, but the groom’s experience throughout the day is just as much part of your wedding day story!

Most grooms aren’t used to being photographed for a full day, so it’s only natural to wonder what happens during portraits, where to stand or what you’re actually meant to do when the camera turns your way.

The good news is you don’t need to have it all figured out! A big part of my job is making sure you feel relaxed and comfortable, while still capturing photos that feel natural and like you.

So, if you’re a groom currently wondering what the photography side of your wedding will actually be like... hopefully this helps. 🧡

Grooms, save this for later. Or send this to your fiancé if he’s currently claiming he’s “not a photo person”. 💌

SUMMER WEDDING DRINKS RECEPTION INSPO // If you’re planning a summer wedding in Aberdeenshire, don’t underestimate your drinks reception. It might seem like a small part of the day, but it’s often where some of the best memories are made!

It’s the first chance for everyone to properly relax after the ceremony and catch up over a drink, join in with some garden games, try dishes from different food trucks, canapés keeping everyone topped up and of course live music in the background and plenty of time to enjoy the sunshine (if you’re lucky enough to get it).

It’s also one of my favourite parts of the day to capture, as everyone has settled into the celebrations, conversations are flowing and some really lovely, natural moments start to happen without anyone even thinking about the camera.

If you’re looking for ideas, here’s a little collection of summer drinks reception inspiration from real Aberdeenshire weddings. Hopefully it gives you a few ideas for your own day. 🌞

Save this for summer wedding drinks reception inspiration and send to someone currently planning their day. 🤍

BRIDAL PORTRAITS FROM “I DO” TO DANCEFLOOR // One thing I love about wedding days is seeing how much a bride’s style and energy can change as the day goes on.

The morning is usually full of excitement while getting ready with your favourite people, the final touches of hair and makeup, putting on your dress and that anticipation of everything about to begin.

Then later on, the heels come off, the second outfit makes an appearance and it’s time to properly celebrate. ✨

I’ve loved seeing more brides bring a second look into their wedding day. It’s such a fun way to show a different side of your personality and gives you the chance to have those beautiful bridal portraits as well as some more relaxed, party-ready photos!

Brides to be, are you planning a second outfit for your evening? I’d love to know what you’re thinking in the comments! 🤍

HOW TO ACTUALLY ENJOY WEDDING PLANNING TOGETHER // Planning a wedding is such an exciting time, but it’s also easy for it to slowly become the only thing you talk about.

This month’s blog is all about making the planning process feel a bit more enjoyable from sharing the workload, taking breaks from wedding chat, making venue visits part of the fun and remembering to enjoy all the little moments along the way.

I’ve shared some honest advice based on what I’ve seen from couples over the years, because the months leading up to your wedding are part of the experience too!

If you’re currently in the middle of wedding planning, head to the link in my bio and have a read. Hopefully it gives you a few helpful ideas to make the process feel a little less stressful and a lot more enjoyable for you both. 💛

The longer I’ve photographed weddings, the more I’ve realised that the things people spend months worrying about are rarely the things anyone remembers afterwards.

What sticks with people is WHO was there.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a beautiful venue and a gorgeous tablescape as much as the next person! But if there’s one thing photographing weddings has taught me, it’s that people will always matter more than perfection. And I think that’s a pretty lovely reminder when you’re in the middle of planning a wedding. 🤍

ouples I’ve worked with - I’d love to see your favourite wedding memory... what’s one photo that still makes you smile every time you think about it? Pop it in the comments below. 🫶↓

A COLOURFUL AUTUMN WEDDING AT LOGIE COUNTRY HOUSE, ABERDEENSHIRE // Rebekah and Daniel’s wedding day was a perfect example of just how cosy, vibrant and full of personality an autumn wedding can be. From the minute I arrived, there were gorgeous autumn tones everywhere. The maroon bridesmaid dresses, the stunning bouquets and lots of little ceremony details tied everything together so beautifully.

One of my favourite moments from the morning had to be Rebekah and Daniel’s first look before the ceremony. It was such an emotional moment between the two of them and such a lovely way to settle the nerves before walking down the aisle.

After a brilliant confetti throw, plenty of hugs, family photos (including their gorgeous dogs), we headed off for their newlywed portraits... and Rebekah made the best decision ever by swapping her shoes for cowboy boots!

We wandered around some of my favourite spots at , made a stop by the bridge, said hello to the Highland coos and then the biggest surprise of the day arrived... Rebekah’s beautiful horse. Seeing her in her wedding dress with her horse made for some seriously iconic photos to include in their gallery.

The celebrations carried on into the evening with the most gorgeous autumn-inspired reception room. The speeches had everyone in stitches, guests kept popping over to the personalised sweetie cart between dances and the ceilidh made sure the dance floor stayed full all night long.

A day full of brilliant people, so many laughs and so many cool, creative touches that made it completely unique to Rebekah and Daniel. What a day. 🧡

Planning your own wedding at Logie Country House or looking for an Aberdeenshire wedding photographer? Save this for wedding inspiration, and if this style feels like the right fit for you, I’d love to hear all about your ideas!

A big thing I’ve noticed after shooting so many weddings over the years is that it doesn’t take long for the day to become a bit of a blur.

There’s so much going on that you’ll never remember every little moment, which is exactly why I love sending sneak peeks so soon after your wedding. While everything still feels fresh, it’s a chance to sit down together and relive it all again!

Watching Roisean and Liam look through theirs for the first time was honestly so lovely. Seeing them laugh at moments they’d forgotten about, spot little details they never saw on the day and just take it all in together... it’s such a special part of the whole process.

Getting your wedding gallery is about exactly that - being taken right back to how your day felt and having something you’ll come back to for years to come. It’s the part of my job I’ll never get tired of!

If you’re planning your wedding and looking for an Aberdeenshire wedding photographer who’ll capture all the moments that create reactions like this, I’d love to hear from you. 🧡
