They say racing drivers need to remain calm under pressure. Eddie Mawer demonstrates exactly what that looks like after his race-leading 750 Motor Club Ma7da suddenly ground to a halt at Snetterton. The steering wheel, meanwhile, was unavailable for comment.

Here's a random selection of images captured on the first day of a two-day visit to Snetterton for the 750 Motor Club.

A look back at a hot and busy two days at Silverstone with the 750 Motor Club.
There were bumper grids and excellent close racing across 10 different championships, including Formula Vee, BMW 116 Trophy, BMW 120 Coupe Cup & 116 Sprint, Hot Hatch, Type R Trophy, Radical Club Challenge, 5Club MX-5 Cup, F1000, CALM All Porsche Trophy, plus guests from the Irish Formula Vee Championship.
The summer sun and intense heat made for challenging photography at times, but there was no shortage of action to point my lens at across the two-day meeting.

Brands Hatch decided to turn the thermostat up for the latest 750 Motor Club meeting.
Six championships, 12 races including a capacity 34-car Swift Sport Challenge grid provided plenty of close and competitive racing. Armed Forces Race Challenge, Toyota MR2s, Sports 1000s, Swift Sports, Ma7das and Locosts all did their bit to keep things exciting.

Oulton Park hosted another excellent 750 Motor Club meeting on Saturday.
It also happened to coincide with BMW LIVE, which meant there were rather a lot of BMWs about. Not just on display but also on track courtesy of the BMW 120 Coupe Cup & 116 Sprint Trophy and the massed ranks of the BMW Car Club Championship.
The weather did its usual Cheshire impression: bright sunshine to begin with, threatening clouds later on, and just enough self-restraint to keep the forecast rain to itself.
There was a cracking mix of sprint races for the 750MC's Clio Sport Championship, Type R Trophy, Hot Hatch Championship as well as the aforementioned BMWs, alongside a 100-minute Club Enduro race that all served up plenty of close, hard-fought racing.
Amongst the Club Enduro field was Ben Collins, deputising for Richard Hammond. It's rather nice to know that even after a career spent as The Stig, he still enjoys a Saturday afternoon racing with the rest of us.

There comes a point in every racing driver's day when it's worth asking whether all the bits originally fitted to the car are still attached. For Bill Garner, that point appears to have arrived somewhere around Cadwell Park.
A closer look at this photo reveals that both front shock absorbers have decided they'd rather spend the day doing something else. Which is unusual, because they're generally considered quite important.
The impressive bit isn't that they came loose. It's that Bill carried on regardless.

After weeks of complaining it was too hot, British motorsport did the sensible thing and ordered a cold, grey weekend.
So 750 Motor Club's small army of competitors swapped sun cream for sweaters and turned up at Cadwell Park for what can only be described as a small festival of racing.
Eleven championships. Twenty-six races. Hundreds of drivers voluntarily tackling one of Britain's most gloriously unforgiving circuits, complete with blind crests, steep drops and corners that seem to have been designed by someone who thought "visibility" was overrated.
Locosts, Ma7das, MX-5s, MR2s, Mighty Minis, Formula Vees, 750 Formula, Historic 750 Formula, Classic Stock Hatch, Armed Forces Race Challenge and Sports Specials all played their part, producing close racing from start to finish.

Some circuits are all about the racing. Others are all about the scenery. Anglesey Circuit somehow manages both.
Two days of sunshine overlooking the Irish Sea, ten championships, three endurance races, and enough close racing to keep drivers busy and photographers wondering why the best overtakes always happen just outside the frame.
The 750 Motor Club shared the weekend with the wonderfully evocative GT & Sports Car Cup, bringing a glorious collection of E-Types, Cobras, Lotus Elans, Elites and MGBs to one of Britain's most spectacular circuits. Add in Club Enduro, Roadsports, Radicals, Sports 1000, Clios, Swifts, Classic Stock Hatchs, and both flavours of 750 Formula, and there was barely a quiet moment all weekend.
The entry list also included Richard Hammond in a Mazda MX-5. It's oddly reassuring to discover that even someone who's spent decades driving million-pound supercars still enjoys racing something with 160 horsepower and a number panel stuck to the door.

Facebook Memories has just unearthed this little beauty from 12 years ago.
This was the start of an MX-5 race at Oulton Park, where 18 of the 22 cars collectively decided that Turn 1 was more of a guideline than a corner.
People bang on about track limits these days. Back then, the track limits were apparently, "Can you still see the circuit from where you are?"
Ah, the good old days!
