🏞 The Lap Anticlockwise 2023🏞

Another outing at at the weekend, and what a tough one for the runners! With a warm and misty start to the morning, the temperature and humidity increased to punishing levels as the runners took on this stunning 47-mile loop around Windermere. By the time many of the runners were on Loughrigg, the heat was really kicking in, and water management between aid stations became paramount.

Huge congratulations to Barney Plummer on setting a new course record of 7:54:11, and Helen Dale and Samantha Lissauer on a tie in 10:1651. Well done to all taking part. It was tough out there!

⛰️🏃‍♀️Grand Tour of Skiddaw 🏃⛰️

Starting Dalston and you follow the River Caldew, winding through fields and woods until you reach Caldbeck. From here, the scenery changes to the stunning and remote feeling Caldbeck Fells, where you make your way past Skiddaw House to the car park at Latrigg. The climb up Skiddaw follows, after visiting the summit (and ringing the bell) you descend via Longside Edge giving fantastic views over Bassenthwaite. Then you contour round passing through Orthwaite, Branthwaite and Fell Side before the route brings you back to Caldbeck and the return journey to Lime House School along the banks of the River Caldew.

At 47 miles of (fairly) runnable trails, amazingly friendly team, and a real community feel, this race should be on everyone's radar!

⛰️⛈️ Lakes Sky Ultra weekend ⛰️⛈️

What a weekend it was the .equipment

The weather was some of the most brutal I have dealt with at an event at the racers dealt with even worse on the tops!

On Friday with 60mph winds and driving rain it was decided that the Swirril 850 would be shortened to an up and down bad weather route to Hole in the Wall, which is not to be sniffed at itself! This was a difficult choice for the organisers but completely the right thing to do!

On Saturday the forecast weather was even worse, with thunder and lightning on the cards. Alternative routes (we need a better name than Thunder and Lightning route, answers on the back of a posy card!) were put in place. Although the routes may not have been quite as challenging, the adverse conditions made it more than hard enough to be in the hills!

Sundays Pinnicle Ridge Extrerme and Place Fell used roughly the original routes with some alterations due to swollen rivers, but the wind didn't let up and all the competitors showed just how tough they were conquering these brilliant lines!

Well done to all those who ran, that was about as tough as it comes for UK mountain races! And a well done to the event team for doing such a great job in terrible conditions!

☀️⛰️ OMM Festival 2023 ⛰️☀️

What a weekend it was at this years Running Festival! Each year this event is getting bigger and better with more talks, more activities and more fun!

The weather was as sunny as the Lakes can get and showing it in all its glory!

With the runners out on the course setting off to get as many points as they nav through the roasting hot Lake District on their own routes and the sun blazing it was a tough day's in the fells but everyone had a great time, or was that just appreciation of the finishline sprinkler system (should we bring it back for the October event?😜)

This year, there were talks on navigation, pole use, , nutrition by , gear maintenance and repairing, introductions to ultra running by , and inspiration from

With the addition of music on Saturday evening, the event was everything you could want from a weekend of running fun!

The Lap

This weekend I was back for the Spring addition.

With mist in the morning I had hopes that the Lakes would be showing it self at its best, and I was not disappointed! We had a beautiful spring day and some impressive inversions to great the runners at the higher points of the day. The runners had to compete with rather hot temperatures but everyone had big smiles on their faces (apart from cursing this photographer for always being at the top of any given hill!)

Can't wait to go back for the Autumn edition, hope to see some of you there!

🧭⛰️ Great Lakeland 3 Day 🧭⛰️

Fun day out shooting the finish of on Monday.

If you haven't come across it before GL3D is a 3-day challenge quite unlike any other, with 3 different courses depending what you feel like (and the ability to pick and change on each day!), and all your overnight gear transported to the overnight camps and food provided it's a great way to enjoy an adventurous long weekend of running in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. The event is exceptionally welcoming, fun and, even, dog friendly. What's not to love!

🏃‍♂️🏔Coledale Horseshoe Fell Race 🏔🏃‍♂️

Popped out to get a few snaps and cheer on the runners one of the Classic Lakeland fell races. The route starts from Braithwaite and takes in Grisedale Pike, then Crag Hill and finally Barrow over a beautiful 13.7 km and 915 m of accent. The route can rightly claim the classic title, the route is tough, the views (when you can see them!) are stunning. The weather was pretty grim with near constant rain, but would it be a fell race if that wasn't the case!?

⛰️Clough Head⛰️

Popped out to support the Clough Head fell race this weekend, and obvs took the camera with me.

Starting from Threlkeld Quarry Museum, this 5 mile up and down is on my bucket list to do! It's got some steep climbs and even steeper decents, what's not to love!

What a year it's been!

It's been a busy, bonkers and fun year both professionally and personally! I have been at some of the best races around both taking photos and doing my own thing, met some of the most interesting people I am likely to ever meet, and seen my lil photography business growing steadily and with some diversity!

Next year is already shaping up to be even busier with some interesting projects in the works!

Over the next year I hope to catch up with those of you I already know, and meet those of you I have yet to meet! If you see me out and about then make sure to say "hi!"
