I was stood in the damp getting this shot and it reminded me why I love autumn in the Lakes.
Slowing down the rushing water with long‑exposure waterfalls, cool air, colour everywhere. It’s real - the kind of moment that makes you want to get out with your camera and actually feel the place, not just photograph it.
I’m running a residential this autumn with Angela Nicholson in the Lake District with SheClicks for female photographers who want proper hands‑on shooting. Mountain mornings, quiet lakes, waterfalls, and time on a couple of farms getting close to Herdwicks and Highland cows in incredible scenery. It’s relaxed, practical, and built around capturing honest storytelling images.

The main square in Marrakesh is Jemaa-el-Fna, it feels like a film set the moment you step into it.
Smoke rising from the bbq stands, snake charmers flutes drifting through the heat, traders calling out, kids weaving through the crowd. Everything moving at its own pace. Marrakesh has that way of pulling you into the scene before you even lift the camera. It’s the kind of place where chaos feels choreographed.

Light drifts through the Souks of Marrakesh, settling over the products like it’s choosing where to land. Dust hangs warm in the air, turning the whole lane a soft gold. A bike waits in the half‑shadow, still yet waiting its next journey. Just one of those Marrakesh pauses that makes you stop, there are plenty of them around every corner. A photographers paradise.

I’m delighted to announce a brand new SheClicks workshop for 2026!

From 3rd to 8th November 2026, I’ll be joining the fantastic Angela Nicholson to lead a six-day photography workshop in the beautiful Lake District.

We’ll photograph everything from dramatic mountain landscapes and peaceful lakes to waterfalls, traditional Lake District scenes, Highland cattle and Herdwick sheep, with plenty of opportunities to develop your creative and technical skills along the way.

As with SheClicks, this is a women-only workshop, so you can expect the relaxed, friendly and supportive atmosphere that SheClicks is all about. Whether you’d like help with camera settings, composition or simply finding new ways to see the landscape, Amy and I will be there throughout the trip to help you get the most from every location.

Marrakesh gave us everything we needed - the intense African heat, the shadows of the souk, and a blast to the senses in the best possible way. Photos everywhere, from the desert to the ancient streets of the medina. An enchanting city not to be missed.

🏑 LOCAL VENUE / FOOD SPONSOR WANTED! 🏑

Kendal Hockey Club is looking for a local pub, club or venue to become our official home for post-match teas for the upcoming season.

We have 4 adult teams, with home fixtures throughout the season, and we’re looking for somewhere that could host our players and visiting opposition after matches and sponsor/provide our post-match food.

In return, we’d love to support and promote the venue as a club. With four adult teams, this could mean plenty of players and opposition coming through your doors over the season, as well as the potential for us to use the venue for club socials, get-togethers and events throughout the year.

We’re a friendly, well-established local sports club and would love to build a relationship with another local business that benefits us both. 🏑🍻
