Like it says . . . I'm very proud to volunteer my time to the Heart of Kent Hospice to give them photos to help them promote their events and wider Hospice work. I've always been made to feel very welcome. What skills do you have that might be useful?

Meet Steve - volunteer photographer, and a familiar face at Heart of Kent Hospice events for the last 12 years.

Steve covers most of our events and has also started coming into the hospice itself. He admits he was nervous at first, but a conversation with one of our nurses - who walked him through the end-of-life process - put him at ease.

Volunteering has helped Steve grow his skills, opened up new opportunities, and even inspired his son to pick up a camera too.

"If you’re thinking about volunteering, start by asking yourself this: what skills do you have and what makes you happy? Whatever it is, you can bring those skills and experiences here."

The weather forecast was looking dodgy but the sun shone on another HOKH Bluebell walk. I always love taking these photos. I call it the Heart of Kent Hospice flagship event and its one of the first events that I covered for the Hospice all those years ago now. Well done to everyone that showed up to walk or help make the event a success behind the scenes. Also nice to meet the Mayor on one of his last official engagements.

I photographed the Heart Of Kent Show Choir last weekend. They put on a fantastic show! I thoroughly enjoyed the evening watching Masquerade. The full set of photos have now been uploaded to those that purchased access. Here are some of my own favs. Hopefully it will encourage you to book their next show if you missed this one!

Maidstone Gang Show 2026 is done . . . and now so are the photos! I took over 8,000 photos in show week. I have about 250 personal favourites and I have whittled those down to these 30 images here. They aren't necessarily the best of the best images, they are mainly of friends both old and new but apologies if you aren't in this set! It doesn't mean you aren't loved!

I've realised (yet again!) that I have fallen behind with the social posts. Sorry to anyone that comes here looking for photos after events. I am planning to get back on it this week and try to catch up a bit in the coming weeks!

I had an amazing weekend photographing the Biddenden Tractorfest. I love this weekend. Its the people more than anything else. I love the characters riding the tractors and the staff and the whole vibe of this event. Its a relatively compact site but crams so much in. Caroline and Ben manage the bands on the stage and I could easily just spend a whole day there really. But then you would miss the steam engines, military and emergency vehicles, classic cars and bikes, food vendors and trade stalls. OH! and the literally HUNDREDS of tractors! I walked over 26k during the weekend and took over 2,500 photos. So much to see!

My own highlights this year were probably the guy who put the 'naughty' into Naughty Norse, my lunchtime crumble cup, trying banana flavoured rum, going up the 105ft Woodstock fire ladder and just the sheer range of tractors on display from old to new, small to large and the downright strange!

I hope I get invited back again next year. Check the Tractorfest FB page for links to many more photos from the event coming in the future.

Thought we were going to get rained out at yesterdays Allington Castle open afternoon in aid of Heart of Kent Hospice but it turned into a brighter afternoon than forecast and we thoroughly enjoyed roaming the grounds and bumped into a fair few people we knew as well.

What an amazing evening this was . . . .
