Just had a reminder email that I have 8 weeks to go until the Great North Run. I have a charity place with Alzheimer's Research UK and have to committed to raising at least £400 for them.
I intend to donate that amount as I'm doing it in memory of my Mum who died from dementia. If anyone else would like to contribute I'm sure ARUK would be very grateful. Link below:

I've put one of my drones to use to inspect my own roof. Initially just to check some debris near gutter wasn't blocking it. Wondered where it was coming from and a closer inspection reveals some pigeons have got under the panels and are starting to build a nest. Debris in gutter is where it isn't holding in place and is sliding down the roof. The pigeon then loops round and picks it up again.
Images have now gone to a Pest Control company who can hopefully put a barrier in place to protect from future ingress.
Panels have been up for over 10 years, strange how it's taken that long for them to have a go at nesting!

It has been a busy 18 months or so with the drones as can be seen in the video. I wonder what other areas of business could benefit from the use of a drone?

I've done a couple of roof inspections over the last 6 months and the drone is proving a great way of saving cost for both the surveying company I'm working for and their clients.
There's no need to hire a cherry picker; the drone can get a lot closer, especially on the harder to reach parts; it's safer as no one has to get on the roof; and it's all done in a fraction of the time.
On a smaller scale would work equally well for checking gutters on a domestic property.

I stayed at Gravetye Manor on Saturday night. The service and the food were excellent, and as the light on Sunday morning was great I took some photos and made a video for them.
If you are looking to give someone a special treat / surprise then I’d highly recommend this place.
I have shared this with their marketing department but have not received any payment or incentive, I’m simply doing a nice thing in return for being looked after very well.

Drone envy! Watching the drones as part of the Grandstand show at Calgary Stampede!
I have a long way to go to be able to offer this sort of service but I couldn't help myself doing a mental risk assessment to review how safely they were operating. I concluded that all was ok but they must have had to get a lot of permissions!

The village held its mini festival "Loddfest" for the first time in 3 years and I took this image once everything was set up to do a bit of last minute promotion.
By all accounts it was a great success with a big attendence and an emergency call out for more ale for the beer tent! Looking forward to hear how much has been generated for the village.
A great event created by lots of people working together.

Perspective is very interesting. Riding my bike on Sunday I could see a vivid splash of red poppies in this field through the hedge and so thought it worthy of a look with the drone. The poppies are actually a little disappointing but then seeing the square in the wheat field and the village in the background it was actually quite satisfying.
At the same time got a great shot of the local swimming pool!

Yesterday I worked with a client to show what a great job they'd done laying an acre of turf in 5 days to ensure that the new play park was ready for the grand opening of the Town Park today (1st June).
