I’VE GOT FIVE DATES.
Well… technically, I’ve got FIVE spaces. 😂
For the next 7 days, I’m opening up a special Alan Watson Photography offer to the next FIVE couples who book their wedding photography with me.
Already booked your venue and got your wedding date? Perfect.
If you haven’t booked your photographer yet, send me your date. If I’m available, you can grab one of the five spaces.
No competition.
No tagging 470 people.
No liking, sharing and promising me you’ll name your first-born child after me! 😉
Just a proper offer for five couples who are planning their wedding and love the way I photograph them.
A £100 booking fee secures your date, and I’ll give you a very worthwhile saving on your wedding photography package. This will be for my Burns (USB Full Day) Package but you can upgrade to an album package at any time.
I photograph weddings all over Ayrshire and beyond, including some of my 5 favourite venues such as The Gailes, The Waterside, Seamill Hydro and The Piersland.
Photographs that you want, groups, relaxed and candid. Capturing the daft stuff, The emotional stuff, and bits you didn't even realise had happened.
Once the five dates/spaces are gone, the offer is gone.

There are deliveries… and then there are GRO Coffee deliveries!

A huge thank you to GRO Coffee in Irvine for very kindly supplying this rather magnificent mountain of cakes and doughnuts for the fantastic staff of Ward 3B at Crosshouse Hospital.
I go dog walking with Jim, whose son Gordon owns GRO Coffee, and when they heard about the wonderful care being given on the ward, they very kindly offered to send in some treats.

The staff were absolutely delighted — although I'm not entirely convinced every cake made it as far as the staff room!
A lovely gesture from a great local business to some very deserving people, it reallyis much appreciated.

Thank you Gordon, Jim and everyone at GRO Coffee.
And if you're wondering whether their cakes are any good…

I have photographic evidence. 😂

Yippppeeeee, I've Been Shortlisted
I've received an email to say that Alan Watson Photography has been shortlisted in Your Scottish Wedding Awards, and I'm delighted.
The last few months haven't exactly been easy. Losing my sister Ailsa was hard, and more recently my attention has been very much with Natalie while she's been in hospital with pneumonia.
There have been days when photography, websites, Facebook posts and everything else that comes with running a business have quite rightly had to take a back seat.
And then something like this award nomination thankfully lands in your inbox.
Remember, I didn't put myself up for this — you did.
To every couple who has trusted me with one of the biggest days of their lives, and to all of you who continue to follow my work, recommend me, comment on my photographs and generally put up with me and my terrible jokes...Thank you.
I've photographed weddings for years, but I still never take it for granted when somebody chooses me to photograph theirs.

If I've photographed your wedding and you'd still like to nominate Alan Watson Photography, nominations made now will go forward to the next Your Scottish Wedding Awards cycle. You can do that here:
Nominate Alan Watson Photography
Thank you, everyone.

Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Janet & David’s wedding at the beautiful Gailes Hotel & Spa in Irvine.

Can I just say, that Jamie, Amber and all the staff were amazing, nothing was a problem and as usual, it ran like clockwork!

And this wedding was a wee bit special for me personally:
Janet & David are both in their 60s and proof, if ever it was needed, that love doesn’t come with an age limit.

Sometimes it just takes the scenic route.

They found each other, fell in love and yesterday surrounded themselves with family and friends to say “I do” — and somehow I was lucky enough to be invited along to capture it all.
But there was another lovely side to yesterday.
I photographed Janet’s daughter Elizabeth’s wedding to George at The Piersland House Hotel in Troon a few years ago.

Then I discovered that Karen, the Assistant Registrar conducting yesterday’s ceremony, was another one of my brides — I photographed her wedding recently at Riverside Lodge in Irvine!

And then I heard someone shouting Alan and guess what, another couple I had the pleaseure of photographing their wedding too.

At this point I was beginning to wonder if I’d accidentally wandered into an Alan Watson Photography reunion. 😂

Throughout the day more people came up to say hello because they remembered me from Elizabeth’s wedding or another wedding they’d attended.

And just to make the world even smaller, I discovered that some of them practically live around the corner from me in Kilwinning!
I’ve photographed weddings for a long time now, but days like yesterday remind me why I still absolutely love what I do.

You start off thinking you’re simply going along to photograph someone’s wedding. You try and come up with ideas to suit each couple and be mindful it's their wedding day and not just a photo-shoot for me!
Then over the years you realise you’ve become a tiny part of so many families’ stories.

A daughter’s wedding leads to her mum’s wedding.
A bride becomes the familiar face standing at the front conducting another couple’s ceremony.
Previous couples turn up as guests.
And suddenly a room full of strangers doesn’t feel like strangers at all.

Janet & David, thank you for inviting me into your story.

For the laughs, the warmth, the brilliant company and for reminding everyone yesterday that there is absolutely no timetable for finding the person who makes you happy.

Here’s to finding love again.

And here’s to two people in their 60s showing the youngsters exactly how it’s done.

What a day. ❤️

A wee bit of a personal update from me this morning…

I’ve been a little quieter than usual over the last few days, and there’s been a very good reason for that.

Natalie has spent the last couple of days in Crosshouse Hospital and, as you can imagine, pretty much all of my attention and energy has been with her.

She’s currently being kept in with suspected pneumonia in her left lung. I spoke to her this morning and, thankfully, she’s sounding a bit better — which was exactly what I needed to hear before heading off to work today.

I also want to say a huge thank you to the doctors, nurses and all the staff at Crosshouse who have been looking after her. They have been absolutely amazing. Kind, caring, reassuring and professional at a time when it really matters. Sometimes I don’t think we realise just how lucky we are to have people like them looking after the ones we love.

So today it’s time for me to pick up the cameras again.

I’m heading to the gorgeous Gailes Hotel & Spa for today’s wedding, and Ayrshire has decided to put on an absolutely beautiful day for us. Blue skies, sunshine and of course one very happy couple — I’m really looking forward to getting there and doing what I love.

And talking of The Gailes…

My newly updated Gailes wedding photography page is now LIVE on my website. (Link Below)

I have put a serious amount of work into this one, with photographs, information and plenty of reasons why The Gailes is such a brilliant venue to photograph a wedding.

So if you’re planning your own Gailes wedding — or you just fancy a wee nosey at what we’ve been working on — have a look.

Right… cameras packed, batteries charged and the sun is shining.

Time to go photograph a wedding.

And Natalie, if you’re reading this from your hospital bed — behave yourself and get better. I’ve got enough editing waiting for me without you causing trouble as well. ;-)

AND THE WINNER IS… NUMBER ONE!

Well… you certainly didn’t sit on the fence!

After asking you to choose your favourite image of the gorgeous Georgie from numbers 1–8, the votes came flying in…

And IMAGE NUMBER ONE absolutely romped it.

So, as promised, No. 1 is going BIG and will be turned into a proper poster-sized print.

A massive thank you to everyone who voted, commented, liked and joined in. I genuinely love doing daft wee things like this with you all — although judging by some of the voting, I’m beginning to think you lot should be running Alan Watson Photography and I’ll just turn up with the camera!

And if you've been quietly watching from the sidelines but haven't actually followed the page yet…
Go on. Hit FOLLOW, I know it's an easy thing to forget to do.

There’s plenty more coming too — weddings, behind-the-scenes nonsense, photography tricks, before & afters, new ideas and probably the occasional moment where I wonder what on earth I've started, AND… apparently I have a YouTube channel too!
Yes, I know.
Alan Watson — international YouTube sensation.

Well… let's not get carried away just yet.

But I'm going to start giving it a bit more love, so if you'd like to see more of what goes on behind the photographs, pop over and SUBSCRIBE there too.

YouTube — Subscribe (it is free)
❤️ And keep joining in with the madness.

Thank You to everyone who took part, I'll be getting this poster printed and framed, then handing it over to Georgie on your behalf folks, so well done to everyone for responding
