What amazing opportunity to capture this beautiful handmade rug being handed over to 150 Regiment RLC from The Afghan Rug Shop.

Many thanks to the CO, Lt Col McCullough and RSM Poole for their hospitality on the day - and for asking me to present a trophy too! Congratulations to RLC Bicester Oxfordshire who were crowned overall champions.

ABF The Soldiers' Charity runs a photo competition for its annual calendar.

I entered this competition in 2020, with this year seeing a record number of entries with more than 280 photos submitted and only 12 photos would be selected for the 2021 calendar.

The photos where judged by actor Paul Copley, novelist Andy McNab, Olympian Heather Stanning OBE, Army Sergeant Major WO1 Gavin Paton and ABF The Soldiers’ Charity Chief Executive Major General (Ret’d) Martin Rutledge CB OBE.

Seeing this photo titled Flying High Extraction which was taken on EX HALBERD DAWN 19, in ABF The Soldiers' Charity 2021 calendar was unreal.

Did you know that the first use of wedding rings can trace back 6,000 years ago? 💍

There is archaeological evidence that the first known use of wedding rings occurred about 6,000 years ago in ancient Egypt. Relics indicate that Ancient Egyptians saw rings – woven rings, made of natural materials such as reeds, h**p, or leather – as a token of love from husband to wife.

A ring is a circle, after all, and the ancient Egyptians considered the circle to be a symbol of eternity. Since a circle has neither beginning nor end, it symbolised eternal love and the never-ending bond of marriage. Traditionally, the wedding ring is worn on the fourth finger, also called the ring finger, of the left hand. This is because the ancient Egyptians believed that there was a vein on this finger that was directly connected to the heart.

Where it all started 10 years ago...

I went to South Africa in 2013, visiting my dad and we went to the Kruger National Park for a few day's 🇿🇦

All day we saw many different herds of elephants with calves and we came across this elephant that was walking towards our car from being the water playing and cooling himself down.

For a while I have been thinking of a name and this day came to me and I realised why not name it after my favourite animal 🐘📸
