The King's Helicopter Flight, which provides dedicated air transport for the Royal Family, primarily operates Sikorsky S-76 and AgustaWestland AW109 helicopters. These twin-engine aircraft are favoured for their speed, reliability, and ability to land in varied locations, much like the one that touched down to transport the Duke of Edinburgh today. His Royal Highness is visiting Blackpool to mark the centenary of Stanley Park, our award-winning Grade II-listed green space that has been a focal point of the town since 1926. As part of today's 100-year celebrations, the Duke is touring the grounds to view recent investments, including the picturesque Italian Gardens. At the newly refurbished Cocker Clock Memorial Tower, he is scheduled to unveil a blue plaque commemorating Dr William Henry Cocker, Blackpool's first Mayor. The royal visit also includes meeting local schoolchildren lining Cocker Walk, enjoying performances from community choirs, and stopping at the historic Art Deco Cafe before signing the visitor book.
