One of the nicest bits of feedback recently came from Stuart at GTS Solutions.

He said someone had actually walked into the office asking about their security services after seeing one of the videos online.

That’s the stuff I love hearing.

Not just views or likes, but real people feeling comfortable enough to actually make contact because they’ve seen the business online and feel like they already know them a bit.

That’s usually what good content does. It builds familiarity first.

Was a really good reminder that simple, consistent videos can make a much bigger impact than people think.

Out of interest, what’s the most random or unexpected way someone’s ever found your business?

Sometimes launches only get one chance to make an impression.

That was the thinking behind this shoot for the launch of a new sportswear brand. The goal wasn’t just to photograph the kits, it was to make the whole thing feel like a proper brand from day one.

Strong visuals make a massive difference with things like this. If the photography looks rushed or average, people notice straight away. But when it’s done properly, it instantly lifts how the brand is perceived.

This was a really fun one to work on because everything was built around creating energy and making the launch feel bigger than just “here’s our new kit”.

I think a lot of businesses underestimate how much good visuals shape first impressions online.

Curious what people think — when you see a new brand launch, what grabs your attention first? The visuals, the product itself, or the overall feel of the brand?

Quick one out of interest…

If you were checking out a local business for the first time, what matters more to you?

A really polished, high-end video
or
Something simple where you actually get a feel for the person?

I see what tends to work, but it’s always interesting hearing what people think from the customer side.

Because most of the time it’s not really about how fancy it looks, it’s whether you feel like you’d trust them and be comfortable getting in touch.

I see this quite a bit with local businesses…

They want more enquiries, but when you look at their website or social media, it’s hard to get a feel for them.

You can see what they do, but not really who they are or what they’re like to deal with.

So if you’re a customer, you’re left guessing a bit. And most people won’t bother, they’ll just move on to someone who feels clearer.

It’s not usually a massive change that’s needed either. Just showing up a bit more clearly and letting people see the person behind the business.

That’s usually what makes the difference.

A lot of good businesses across Falkirk, Edinburgh and Glasgow are probably closer than they think, they just don’t quite show it yet.

Had a good chat with someone recently about video for their website, and it got me thinking…

Most businesses don’t actually need loads of videos. They just need a few that do the job properly.

If it was me, I’d keep it simple. One that shows who you are and what you’re about, one that answers the questions you get all the time, and one that shows a bit of proof from real work or customers.

That’s usually more than enough.

This is a good example of the kind of video I mean ↓

Nothing over the top, just someone talking about their business in a normal way. That’s the sort of thing that helps people decide if they want to get in touch.

I think a lot of businesses across Falkirk, Edinburgh, Glasgow etc either do nothing with video, or try to do too much.

Most would probably get better results just keeping it simple.
