Well what an experience that was; running on closed roads with 1000 other people was a real blast, not something I'll forget in a hurry.
I had set myself a target of sub-1hr and top 75% for my age category, so I'm absolutely chuffed with 51:49 and 37th/67 in age Cat.
Such a well organised event, with great support from the locals lining the streets and cheerful encouragement from the marshals and volunteers; I'll definitely be up for this one next time 🤔💪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Thanks for looking, John.

This, in essence, is what I've been chipping away at for the last couple of years. It's basically what Ffenics Rising is all about; an attempt to "live" rather than to merely "exist" in my previous Groundhog Day monotony. And keeping in mind I will probably need to work until the day I drop, starting to "live" is even more important I reckon.
Happy weekend, you beautiful people x 😁

For those that care, I'm going to do a weekly roundup of exercise and general progress on my build up to my attempt in October.
I'm also going to try and limit posting fitness-related stuff to my own page, as I know how tedious that can be 🤔🤣
Last year (birthday to birthday) was all about losing weight/fat, and I think I did quite well, but this year is all about fitness and taking on new challenges. So on May 17th I did my first ever run, as in "going for a run", and this is where I'm at just over 5 weeks later.
To be fair, I'm well happy with where I'm at.
Oh, and Half Marathon sponsorship details will follow shortly; giving you all plenty of time to look down the back of the sofa for spare shrapnel 😁😁
Thanks for looking x

An impromptu trip out in the van after a long day on Friday.
I woke up at Llangasty, then a quick hike up Allt yr Esgair for sunrise and a coffee. After descending, I headed over to Talybont Reservoir, via the village shop for coffee and cake, where I mooched around and watched the World go by. There's a definite whiff of Spring in the air, and I'm on board with that.
Brecon for battered sausage and chips, before a brisk, manic drive back to my favourite spot overlooking the Reservoir; the sky was lightning up, and I knew the sunset would be epic from the high vantage spot.
I got speaking to a few full-time vanlife people yesterday, and it's really making me more inspired to jump into it, albeit with a bigger vehicle.
I've not even finished this van yet, and I'm planning the layout of the next one 🤔🤔
All in all, a great little trip.... and all within 30 miles of home.
