Marie Davey Photography Photography is my passion, and I have set out to photograph the stunning Surrey landscapes that I see everyday - there is so much beauty on my doorstep.

I will also stop to take pictures of other places I am lucky enough to visit through my travels. Surrey landscape photographer

So here's my offering from last night's rather spectacular show... I really can't believe that we got the chance to see the Northern Lights again; not only in the UK but in Southern England! 🤯 I feel so lucky to have been able to get out and witness them once more... 2024 has been rather special.

It’s my favourite time of year… poppy season!

For a few weeks every year, I become more than a little bit obsessed with tracking down poppy fields if I can, and this year didn’t disappoint!

I travelled a bit further afield than usual, and headed to Wiltshire to capture this beautiful scene… I set my alarm for 2am to go and check it out at sunrise, and then as it was so lovely I went back again the following day for sunset, which was when this picture was taken.

The conditions were pretty challenging; grey, wet and windy, but my perseverance/stubbornness paid off as the sun approached the horizon, finally breaking through the thick clouds and I was treated to a few fleeting minutes of some lovely light 🙂

Wow! What an unbelievable night! Who'd have thought we'd get the Northern Lights in Surrey!! Incredible!

This is a very quick edit (as it's 2.45am!), so not perfect, but just such an incredible experience that I wanted to share... I really hope you got to enjoy them too wherever you were!

The most impressive display of wild garlic that I've seen, and somewhere that I've been so keen to get back to since last year, and this year's display didn't disappoint either!

The smell is incredible, and I left here, after a few hours, feeling incredibly hungry!

I get the feeling I will return here every year - perhaps I need to make sure that I've had my breakfast next time though 😆

Quite frankly, I'm just posting this because it's too cute not to!

Such a gorgeous little thing, and a really lovely end to a morning out with my camera... so happy Friday, and I hope this little one helps to put a smile on your face 🙂

And now for something completely different... I'm finally getting round to sharing an image that I shot back in the summer of last year. It was one of the last shots I took at the end of an incredibly enjoyable day exploring the London Underground with the lovely and very talented Benjamin Graham.

I met Benjamin a good few years ago after a talk he did at Bookham Camera Club, and we have stayed in touch ever since. We would always talk of getting together for a day of photography, but every time we tried life would seem to throw us a few curve balls, but finally, last summer, we were able to make it happen!

Benjamin has spent many months, (probably years actually), getting to know every inch of the London Underground and it's surrounding areas for his book The Story of the Tube, and he was kind enough to show me some of the highlights of the Elizabeth Line and its environs.

This was our last stop of the day; the Camile Walala designed bridge at Canary Wharf, and my goodness, what a spot! I could have stayed here for hours, but sadly we were running out of time, but I did manage to fire off a few shots, with this being my favourite.

I don't quite know what's happened to our winter, but here in the south of England it really has been a rather damp, blustery and mild affair, and from a photographic point of view a bit of a damp squib. I think we can probably count the number of cold, frosty mornings on one hand!

This was taken on one of the very few times I've been out with my camera recently, when it was actually 'properly' cold, back in December. Taken whilst on a dog walk round my favourite stomping ground of Polesden Lacey.

I still remain hopeful that we might get a cold snap in March, but if not, I guess I'll just have to start thinking about spring!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

I hope you all get some time to relax and unwind, and can spend quality time with family and friends. Wishing you all the best, and thank you for your support this year... I'll see you in the new year!

Is anyone else finding themselves dreaming of frosty mornings or is it just me? I think it's because I've had so many appallingly wet dog walks recently that I'm actually hankering for some properly cold weather! And of course, it'll be nice to get out with my camera to capture some of Winter's wonders...

This was taken on a beautiful morning back in January at my favourite local spot, Newlands Corner.

So, even by my standards it’s been a while since posting on my socials, but as always I’ve been very busy behind the scenes, and I thought it was probably about time that I told you a bit of news… I am very honoured to let you know that I have been asked to be Guildford Cathedral's photographer!

It’s a truly wonderful and unique place, beautiful in so many ways, and I am thoroughly enjoying exploring everything that it has to offer, and I'm really looking forward to what the future holds.

So, if you haven’t already, can I encourage you to visit the cathedral, as it has so much to offer? You can also find out more about what’s on by giving their socials a follow. And, if you have a minute to spare, the cathedral has been shortlisted in the Guildford Design Awards and would really appreciate your vote!

A little scene that caught my eye… no matter how many times I head to Newlands Corner, I will never get bored; there is always something that catches my eye, and on this occasion it was the many layers created by the trees… simple but lovely 🙂
