We were so pleased to be part of the Situation Leeds Festival last month! We had a pop up exhibition in Leeds Kirkgate Market showcasing some of the talented photographers that were involved in the Photo North Festival this year!

Exciting news!

The Leeds International African Arts Festival ._ begins on 4 June, and Photo North Festival is proud to be part of this year’s programme with a digital exhibition from selected artists featured in our 2026 festival theme, EARTHWISE. 🌍

From urgent environmental realities to intimate stories of harvest, craft, identity, and belonging, EARTHWISE invites audiences into deeply human reflections on culture and the natural world. Featuring the work of:

Arteh Odjidja with Rise for Bayelsa
Tobi Dosumu with Earthwise
John Moussa Kalapo with …Who Are You?
Oluwakemi Oluwunmi with Emmanuel’s Garden
Peter Caton with Unyielding Floods.

Some featured artists will also take part in a special panel discussion on 4th June at Slung Low Warehouse, Holbeck, Leeds.

Jaywick Sands Happy Club by

Made in close collaboration with the people of Jaywick, Essex, this body of work challenges the damaging narratives often imposed on the village by outsiders.

While Jaywick is frequently defined through deprivation and political headlines, David J Shaw’s photographs reveal a community shaped by care, resilience and pride.

Jaywick Sands Happy Club offers a more balanced portrait of a place facing challenges echoed internationally, while foregrounding the voices and experiences of the people who call it home.

Part of Leeds, the city-wide multidisciplinary arts festival taking place across May and June.
