This little guy? He's my absolute favourite. Spot an open field, and he's all eyes on me, like he's checking in. Then, bam! Off he goes, like a rocket. And when he's had his fun, he zooms back, looking for some kind of nod. A quick pat on the head, and he's off again, his tail wagging like crazy. It's in these moments, running wild together, that our bond grows stronger. No words needed, just us, enjoying the thrill of freedom. He trusts me completely, and I'm grateful for every moment of it.

A Day with Harleigh: Capturing the Spirit of Dalmatians at the Fire Station

Today, I had the pleasure of spending an hour with the remarkable Harleigh. Our adventure took us on a stroll to the local Fire Station, where we embarked on a mission to capture some unforgettable shots. As we ventured through the streets, Harleigh's boundless energy and playful demeanor filled the air with excitement.

The idea to visit the Fire Station stemmed from the rich history of Dalmatians as firehouse dogs. Dating back to the 19th century, Dalmatians were a familiar sight alongside firefighters and their horse-drawn carriages. Renowned for their agility, loyalty, and distinctive spotted coat, Dalmatians quickly became synonymous with firehouses worldwide.

In those early days, Dalmatians served a vital role as guardians of the firehouse and its equipment. Their keen instincts and protective nature made them invaluable companions during emergency response missions. Additionally, their presence helped calm the horses and clear a path through crowded streets, ensuring a swift and efficient journey to the scene of a fire.

As we arrived at the Fire Station, the sight of Harleigh against the backdrop of the iconic red doors evoked a sense of nostalgia and admiration. 🐾 En route back to the car after a great walk, Kylo leading us through the mud, bogs, and over logs. I looked down to get my phone out of my pocket, and before I could, I saw his big ol' paw print. It made me realise something.

For us, this had been a great walk after the recent weather. But for him, it was the best part of his day. Hell, probably the best part of his week!

Then as the mud got muddier and the bogs boggier, I started to look at all the other paw prints small to mighty. They were also having the best time of their days.

This is what they live for; they could be joining us on a huge adventure or having a walk to the pub. But that will be what they have been waiting for, walking side by side with their greatest human.

We love them so much, but it is still so easy to take them for granted some days. 🐾
