It’s been a long day behind the camera, but this one was worth every minute šŸ“ø

Today I photographed a truly prestigious 7,000 sq ft, 7-bedroom home down in Surrey - and honestly, it completely blew me away. Every room has been properly thought through - it feels spacious, well planned and finished to such a high standard. Homes like this are an absolute pleasure to photograph.

I’m just wrapping up and getting the files sorted, and I already can’t wait to share more from this one ✨

Stay tuned - there’s plenty to come.

If you’re marketing a standout property and want photography that really shows it at its best, drop me a message - I’d love to chat.

Four walls and a ceiling. - That’s all you get. Better get it right.

Empty properties still need professional photography. In fact… sometimes they need it more.

When a home is vacant, there’s nowhere to hide.
No cosy sofa.
No styled cushions.
No strategically placed house plant working overtime.

It’s just walls, light and space.

And that’s exactly why it needs to be shot properly.

āœ” Straight lines
āœ” Balanced exposure
āœ” Clean window detail
āœ” Natural light handled correctly
āœ” Rooms that feel spacious, not cold

Bad photos make an empty property feel forgotten.
Good photos make it feel fresh, ready and waiting.

Buyers scroll fast.
If your listing looks dull, dark or distorted, they move on.
That’s viewings left on the table.

Professional photography doesn’t ā€œdress it upā€.
It presents it properly.

Because whether it’s fully staged or completely vacant…
presentation sells.

šŸ“ø Book your property in today - don’t leave viewings on the table.

It just works.

This particular portrait never fails to bring a smile to my face. There's just so much life and character in its simplicity.

Have you ever wanted to master the art of creating captivating portraits but haven't quite found the time yet?

Don't worry, I've got you covered! šŸ’Ŗ

Here are my six top tips on making simple changes that can turn your portraits into perfection.

1. **Perfect Lighting**: Natural light is your best friend! Look for soft, diffused light for flattering portraits. Avoid harsh midday sun, opting instead for early morning or late afternoon golden hours. If indoors, position your subject near a large window to harness beautiful, soft light.

2. **Find the Right Background**: Your background can make or break a portrait. Choose one that complements your subject without distracting from them. Look for clean, uncluttered backgrounds or opt for blurred backgrounds (achieved with a wide aperture) to make your subject pop.

3. **Strike the Right Pose**: Guide your subject into natural, relaxed poses. Encourage them to move naturally and expressively, capturing genuine emotions and moments. Experiment with different angles and compositions to find the most flattering and dynamic poses.

4. **Focus on the Eyes**: The eyes are the window to the soul, so make sure they're sharp and in focus. Set your focus point on the eyes and ensure they're well-lit and expressive. A sharp focus on the eyes draws viewers into the portrait and adds depth and emotion.

5. **Play with Depth of Field**: Experiment with depth of field to add visual interest to your portraits. Use a wide aperture (low f-stop) to create a shallow depth of field, blurring the background and emphasizing your subject. This technique helps to isolate your subject and create a sense of intimacy.

6. **Capture Genuine Emotions**: The best portraits evoke emotion and tell a story. Connect with your subject to capture authentic moments and expressions. Encourage laughter, smiles, and natural interactions to create portraits that resonate with viewers on a deeper level.

Remember, practice makes perfect! Keep experimenting, honing your skills, and most importantly, have fun capturing beautiful portraits. 🌟

Decluttering makes a huge difference when you’re selling your home - it helps buyers picture themselves living there.

But let’s be real: it’s not always possible.

Life gets busy. Kids, pets, work, renovations, moving chaos… sometimes you simply don’t have the time (or the headspace) to make every room ā€œshow homeā€ ready.

That’s why I go one step further for my clients and offer decluttering editing.

Here’s a transformation from a plant room - the space was building materials, but it was essential to make this room part of the marketing pack. With a few careful edits, the room photographs cleaner, brighter, and more market-ready - without needing at least 30mins of clearing and staging.

This is just one of the ways I work closely with vendors and home-owners to help them get the results they actually want: more clicks, more viewings, more competition - and a stronger sale price.

If you haven’t booked professional photography yet, you’re genuinely leaving money on the table.

Take a look at this stunning property in Rothely, Leicester that I photographed for Riva Lily Estate Agents Craig Stephens - Riva Lily Estate Agents this week.

With family homes, it’s about flow: how the living room connects to the dining space, how the kitchen works day-to-day, how the garden feels as an extension of the home. I photograph these properties to show comfort and usability - not just empty rooms.

When I shoot residential photography in Leicester, I keep the images clean and bright, but I also look for the little things that make a house feel like a home: natural light, space to gather, and the features families care about (storage, parking, schools nearby if relevant to a marketing set, and outdoor space). For this particular property, it was a super close location to the The Woodman's Stroke pub.

If your looking to sell your property, or even have your property on the market but lacking some professional photography - DM me right now and let's get your property the marketing it deserves.

Did you know?

High winds are one of the biggest safety risks when flying drones, which is why, with Storm Chandra arriving today, drone photography won’t be taking place on any appointments.

But why? - Strong gusts (Such as today) can push a drone off course, affect stability, reduce battery efficiency, and make safe take-off and landing unpredictable. Even the most advanced drones have wind limits, and operating beyond them increases the risk to people, property, and equipment.

As a CAA-certified drone pilot, I’m legally required by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to only fly when weather conditions allow the aircraft to be operated safely and kept fully under control at all times. If the conditions don’t meet that standard, the drone stays on the ground - no exceptions.

As always, the weather is outside of my control, which is why I never charge to revisit for drone photography. I’ll always return at the next earliest suitable time once conditions are safe again.

Kerb appeal isn’t just a nice extra - it sets the value in people’s heads.

Before anyone sees your kitchen, they’ve already made assumptions from the exterior. That’s why I always give exteriors the attention they deserve: clean framing, tidy distractions, the best angle for proportion, and the right time of day for flattering light.

For property photography in Leicester, I aim to show the property as it feels when you pull up outside - welcoming, well-kept, and easy to understand. I’ll include the front, rear, garden/patio, and any features like driveways, garages, or views.

If you’re selling or letting, strong exteriors attract the right audience from the start.

Yesterday, it wasn’t even 10 minutes into my first job of the day and I managed to lock myself in the homeowner’s bathroom.

Because, obviously, who walks into a room and checks there’s actually a door handle before closing the door?

After about five minutes of politely shouting for help to the homeowner downstairs, I finally escaped.

Just another reminder of why I love this job – no two days are ever the same, and you genuinely never know what’s coming next!

My new branded hoodies are here!

Branding really does matter. It’s often the small, consistent details that quietly build trust before a single word is said.

You can probably tell I’m not a product photographer… but I’m really pleased with how these have turned out. They strike that smart but casual balance – not over-the-top business, but comfortable work clothing with clear, professional branding at the same time.

A huge thank you to K&D Embroidery and Printing LTD for the quick turnaround and top-quality work – genuinely appreciated.

I’m Leicester’s No.1 property photographer.

If your home has been listed for weeks and you’re not getting the clicks, saves or viewings - it’s possibly the photos, not the price.

Most buyers decide in seconds. The right images make your home feel brighter, bigger and more desirable - so more people book a viewing.

Swipe through and tell me: which photo would make you want to view straight away - 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5? šŸ šŸ“ø

If you’re selling in Leicester (or nearby) and want your listing to finally move, Comment below and I’ll reply with availability and pricing today.

Most drone photos are technically fine… and completely forgettable.

This one is different. I have stripped it back to black and white, then let the colour do the talking - the house and the countryside on its doorstep. Because if location is the selling point, it should be impossible to miss.

That is how I shoot for estate agents across Leicester and Leicestershire. No half measures. No lazy aerials. Just images that make listings look sharper and sell the lifestyle.

Floorplans just got interactive.

I create them on-site, so agents and vendors get peace of mind straight away - exact sq ft, fully checked, and confirmed before I even leave the property.

No guesswork, no follow-ups, no delays.
It’s just one of the many ways Apperley Bennett Photography goes above and beyond to make sure my clients get the service they deserve.

It just works. āœ…
