Photographing moving subjects and rolling seascapes from the skies. It's enjoyable, but it takes a lot of practice and patience.

Working alone, your concentration levels are at their maximum.
--
You're scanning the airspace, studying the waves, predicting the movements of the surfers, listening out for birds, switching modes from stills to video, etc. The list is long.
--
On a bright day, it's difficult to see everything you've captured. So, when you return to the editing suite and make new discoveries in the footage, well, it's just the best feeling ever ๐Ÿ˜Š
--
I'm yet to come across an image which cannot be created into something new. It's mostly understanding how much attention you wish to give it.

Happy Friday, team! ๐Ÿš€

The elusive view. Sought by many, found by few ๐Ÿฅพ

It takes sweat, patience, and the stubbornness to keep climbing with a backpack full of glass and metal โ†’ tools of an outdoor photographer.

But in the quiet of Cumbriaโ€™s fells, even the hardest hike is worth it. Reach this point and the reward is silence, solitude, and a lake that feels like it belongs only to you โœจ

Alone, but never lonely โ€” on a road trip last summer, I discovered a setting that I can only describe as my ideal getaway โœจ

A secluded mountain cabin with its very own glacial lake, steep valley walls, and a life shaped by the elements.

For me, this is my kind of adventure, and these are the types of environments are where I find my peace. To my beloved Norway, you will always be home ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ด

The night sky full of stars and endless galaxies โ€” a twinkling display from a very old volcanic island in the North Atlantic โœจ
-
The best time of year to photograph the Milky Way in the Canary Islands, are the summer months between May to August.
-
My regular visits to these wonderful little islands have been in winter, where the night skies are regularly bright and starry. These islands have so much to offer ๐Ÿ’š
-
For year-round stargazing on Fuerteventura, head to Mirador Astronรณmico de Sicasumbre, up in the mountains. One of my favourite spots!
-
This is where youโ€™ll find a semi-walled observation deck to sit and gaze at the night sky โ€” perfect โœจ

I stumbled across this quote by Megan Johnson last week, and felt it described this image perfectly.

โ€œLifeโ€™s greatest moments are the ones we slow down to feel.โ€

"When I grow old, I want to spend my days watching the morning light sweep over the majestic mountains of a tiny volcanic island, born from the fiery depths of the Atlantic Ocean seabed."

The colour palette on these dramatic landscapes is always special ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡จ

The hidden lagoons of Baltinache, Chile ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฑ
โ€”
A benefit of shared accommodation while traveling is the exchange of stories.
โ€”
Many of the places Iโ€™ve visited were never part of โ€˜the plan.โ€™ Iโ€™ve learned to travel with a level of flexibility, and this approach has taken me to some truly remarkable places.
โ€”
From San Pedro de Atacama, we packed our daypacks and hired mountain bikes. We then travelled across the moon-like landscape to the turquoise salt pools of the desert ๐ŸŒต
โ€”
In total, there are seven bodies of water, but not all are for bathing. Sadly, there was to be no swimming with the flamingos on this occasion ๐Ÿฆฉ
โ€”
Fun fact: no sunscreen should be applied until after bathing. This is to protect the natural surroundings and not to contaminate the water.
โ€”
I read somewhere that Cejar Laguna is around 40m deep, but us mere mortals will never reach the bottom ๐Ÿฆฆ
โ€”
The salt consistency is sooooo strong, and the floating experience is lots of fun! โ˜บ๏ธ

Traditional Canarian Houses on Lanzarote ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡จ
-
Influenced by the climate, the construction of Canarian buildings is simple but effective.
-
Drystone walls, rendered and painted white, reflect the sun. This keeps the interior cool โ˜€๏ธ
-
The purpose for the areas of exposed stone is not for decoration. Like modern ventilation bricks, the exposed stone lets the walls breathe. This avoids damp in winter.
-
Sloped rooftop terraces are designed to collect water from scarce annual rainfall ๐Ÿ’ฆ
-
To limit solar gain from the glass, traditional houses will have small windows.
-
The painted green frames to the doors and windows will typically be painted green. A custom, created long ago by fishermen using leftover paint from their boats ๐Ÿ›ถ
-
My two favourite places for this architecture are Teguise and Harรญa, in the north.

Have you ever thought about the rising of the Moon? ๐ŸŒ”โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹It's a subtle affair when compared to the setting...

Have you ever thought about the rising of the Moon? ๐ŸŒ”โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹It's a subtle affair when compared to the setting of the Sun.

Sunsets (and sunrises) tend to feel dramatic, filling the skies with vibrant colours of warm and cold, before slowly dropping below the horizon after its spectacular evening display.

Theatric, yet there is still a sense of calm ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Only on occasion will the Moon seek out more attention. Sometimes it will be blood red in colour and in other moments, bright orange.

It has the power to block out the Sun, and it can get so close to Earth that we discover new fascinating details on its surface ๐ŸŒ•

A marvel of astronomy and suddenly a curious question burns inside: how many Moon rises can you remember in your lifetime?

Location: Mirador del Risco de Las Peรฑas, Fuerteventura ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡จ
