Avocet spotted at RSPB Marshside!

I’ve only seen this stunning bird a handful of times when visiting Norfolk, so was lovely to get a good close view in my own region 😁

A little wren singing its heart out at RSPB Marshside, Southport 🎶

This specific wren is apparently quite recognisable as I’ve seen others post the same shots, as well as people noticing from my reel 😆

Everyone in the hide were far more interested in the curlew sandpiper in the distance, but my full attention was on this lovely bird 😄

My first spoonbill sighting and photos! Captured at RSPB Marshside, Southport 🪿

What a stunning bird! This one was cleaning itself after landing at Nell’s Hide. It was an incredibly exciting moment for me, I’ve been wanting to spot one of these rarities for a while.

It was my first visit to Marshside (somehow!), it had been recommended to me so many times and it did not disappoint.

Ive got plenty more photos and videos to share from my day out 😁

One of my favourite birds… the Jay!! 🪶

I spotted this shy bird right above my head whilst out on a walk and luckily, it didn’t fly away as Jays so often do. They’re elusive and easily spooked, but that’s why I love them so much.

What interests me about Jays, as well as other corvids, is how they don’t fly off and out of sight when spooked. They seem to just fly a little further away and keep their eye on you. Pigeons and other birds seem to fly right away and out of sight, but I’ve noticed corvids tend to stick around.

I could be completely wrong, but I think it shows of sign of their intelligence. They know they’re out of danger.

But away, they’re pretty birds aren’t they 😅
