That face says everything. 🐾

Big curls, floppy ears and a smile that would get away with absolutely anything.

This is why I love close-up pet portraits. You don’t need complicated props or elaborate setups when the dog already has this much personality.

A good pet photography session is about more than getting them to sit still. It’s about catching the little expressions their owners recognise instantly — the look, the smile, the slightly daft moment that is completely them.

Some dogs were made for the studio. Others were made for adventure. 🐾

Pet photography doesn’t have to mean sitting nicely in front of a backdrop.

Outdoor sessions give dogs the chance to explore, run around and be themselves — while creating photographs that look more like pieces of wall art than ordinary snapshots.

This is exactly why I offer outdoor dog photography sessions around Leigh, Wigan and Greater Manchester, as well as sessions at my studio at Spinners Mill.

Whether your dog is a perfectly behaved poser or an enthusiastic lunatic who refuses to sit still, that’s fine. The aim is to capture their personality, not make them behave like a model.

Because walks come and go.

Long legs. Big personality. Zero chance of blending into the background. 🐾

This is one of the things I like about studio pet photography — it doesn’t have to be plain, safe or predictable.

The right background, a simple prop and a dog with a bit of attitude can turn a pet portrait into something bold enough to hang on the wall.

This handsome lad absolutely suited the strong yellow backdrop. It gives the whole image a bit of punch while still keeping all the attention on him.
