Scotsgrey Photography I have always enjoyed drawing and Painting. Photography came a bit later. My page will hopefully give me chance to to show off best work. Colin

I hope you enjoy. Ever since I was very young I have always enjoyed drawing and painting. It was a regular occurence for me to get up at 3am or a similar daft hour and go downstairs and start drawing at the kitchen table. Art was always my favourite subject at school. Although I was fascinated by physics and the sciences I always found art class to be a place where I could let my imagination loose

without worrying whether the answer was right or wrong. I also saw it as a bit of a skive!! As I grew older and entered the big wide world and started a career in catering I found I had less and less time to indulge my hobby. Just recently however life has changed slightly – I have settled down and got married. My wife also has creative side and we have both reignited the inner artist in each other. My spare time has also increased. I have almost always worked in Graphite pencils and occasionally watercolours. I have dabbled in acrylics and oils but they do not suit my style – I prefer a more fluid medium. Just recently I have discovered the Derwent range of pencils – Coloursoft, Inktense and pastels. I am close to completing a couple of fairly detailed pastel drawings but have also developed a liking for sketchbook style pen and ink and coloured pencil work. My interest in photography started when I was about 12 years old. My first camera was a completely manual Zenith SLR. I had this for years before moving onto the Olympus OM101. As with my art, photography took a back seat due to my career. By the time I had rediscovered the bug the digital world was in full flow and I bought myself a Canon EOS350D, followed a couple of years later by the EOS450D. My favourite subjects are natural history and military ceremonial life including military bands. I have always enjoyed natural history and the 12 years spent on army barracks as a kid inspired my other interest. I am a better artist and photographer than I am a wordsmith so I will leave it at that. I hope you enjoy my work. Please feel free to leave me feedback – It will hopefully improve me as an artist.

Something a little different from my weekend at Brands Hatch. These images were taken with very slow shutter speeds, between 1/15th and 1/8th of a second, while panning. Sharp images were never the aim, but I was interested to see the effects I could achieve.
