Following my post yesterday about missing the shot, this monster has now gone home. The opportunity to photograph it no longer exists.

‘See it. Shoot it. Sorted’ 😀

And please remember by ‘shoot it’ I mean photograph it!

Here’s a shot from Lieges railway station. People waiting for their train, all lined up perfectly underneath / in some kind of archways.

Great graphics & lines, good light, very abstract.

I missed the shot 😀

Actually, even worse, I couldn’t be bothered with it. Kicking myself now. If you see it, just get the shot and you’ll feel a lot better I promise 😀

We had such a great few days in Paris and Lieges/Brussels and ended up walking around 40 miles in total.

Galeries Lafeyette has a rooftop terrace with stunning views over Paris. I thought there would be an expensive cafe/bar at the top, but it's just a terrace, no charge to go there.

We watched the sunset with wine that we'd hidden in our bag 🙂

26 miles walked photographing in Paris over the past couple of days…excited to see what I’ve managed to get 🙂

I love my Fuji X-Pro 2 but I’ve recently started to use my IPhone when I’m out and about.

Years of shooting with a ‘real’ camera means that I have some serious muscle memory and brain re-wiring to apply.

One huge advantage of using a phone is that nobody notices me or cares what I’m doing. It’s different when I’m using a camera. There is no camera more compact and unobtrusive than a phone camera. Everybody has one, I don’t stand out at all. All good so far.

There are some major hurdles though. One is making adjustments to camera settings - I change the camera exposure regularly and am used to being in control of settings. Not easy or quick on an iPhone.

I’ve also noticed that my iPhone (13 mini) gives the photos a strange ‘plastic’ painterly look to the photos, especially if I use the zoom.

The photos probably aren’t good enough quality to use for large prints, or to publish. Or are they? Does it matter really? I’ve always taken the view that the finding and taking of the image is the bit that counts. And the content of the image is more important than the technical quality.

I’ll keep testing the phone and will probably upgrade to one with a better camera at some point. This is definitely a long work in progress…
