Rambling Around Rochdale

Rambling Around Rochdale Hello. I'm a retired British Army Veteran, dendrophile, nemophilist exploring Rochdale & Britain through photography with my Olympus cameras & drone.

Following my time in the Army, I discovered a passion for the environment and began to utilize my autism; Photography became a wonderful avenue to explore and engage deeply with my greatest interests: nature and solitude. From the expanse of moorlands to the charm of waterfalls, rivers to wooded areas, the beauty of pastoral scenes to the echoes of bygone industry, and from the grandeur of the Vic

torian era to remnants of the medieval period; Rochdale is rich in character, which I hope you all appreciate in my photographs. Ian Lord (Photographer)

Our Gracie, standin’ proud outside Rochdale Town Hall, t’rain’s left t’ flags glistenin’, while t’warm golden lights shine out against t’dark Lancashire sky. Proper atmospheric, this — a proud bit o’ Rochdale, and our Gracie lookin’ right at home.

Dawn breaks and ethereal ground mist glows with warming, raking sunlight, just for a moment-before it dissipates.

Ancient Magnum Via Holloway, Halifax.

A 12th-century holloway, known through the ages as Magnum Via and Wakefield Gate. Worn deep into the earth by centuries of passing feet and packhorses, this ancient route was once travelled by Daniel Defoe. Today, beneath the trees, it feels like a path between worlds — quiet, timeless and steeped in echoes.
