Fairy Street was the place if you wanted to test your mettle on a homemade go-kart. No helmets, brakes that did absolutely nothing, just a steep hill, your mates, and pure nerve. For a proper Liverpool kid, that was where the real racing happened. We were built different back then—no soft lads allowed.
