Last week we held our annual informal, print only, Nature competition, kindly organised and hosted by Mike Lawson. The winning image 'Dead Vlei' was submitted by Annie Ringland. The image shows ancient, blackened camel thorn trees standing in the white clay pan of Deadvlei within the Namib-Naukluft National Park in Namibia.

South Liverpool Photographic Society’s Summer Season starts this Thursday 2nd July with a Post Processing Masterclass given by our own Paul Gallagher FRPS.

This is not to be missed! Bring your notebooks and pens. Members, Friends and Guests are all welcome. Doors open at CADWA at 7-45 for 8 PM start. £3 entry fee payable on the door.

This week our annual print competition was judged by the excellent Jane Lines. Over 140 prints were submitted. Congratulations to our category winners:- Simon Rahilly winning no less than three categories with 'Lost..and Found' , 'A Winter Walk' and 'Sweet Peas'; Robert Jenkins - 'Tiger Tiger'; Sarah Bevan - 'Craig - The Big Tusker'; Marie McGonigal - 'Interior Museum of Liverpool' - also selected as best overall print.

This week our annual digital image competition was judged by the excellent Gordon Jenkins. Congratulations to category winners:- Martin Reece winning two categories with 'Lilac Breasted Roller Zimanga' - selected as best overall image, and 'Storm Over Vestrahorn'; Derek Gould - 'Hibiscus'; Sarah Bevan - 'Who Needs Pebble Dash'; Marie McGonigal - 'Frozen Blooms; Kevin Power - 'The Siren' (cropped version shown here)

Thursday 4th June 8:00pm: Members Evening, during which our very own Martin Reece will critique a selection of recent images submitted by members.

Thursday 11th June 7:45pm: Gordon Jenkins will judge 126 digital images across six categories - Pictorial Colour & Mono; Portrait & Figure Study; Architecture; Natural History; Creative.

Thursday 18th June 7:45pm: Jane Lines will judge 143 prints across six categories - Pictorial Colour & Mono; Portrait & Figure Study (image shown is winning print from last year’s competition); Architecture; Natural History; Creative.

Judging evenings are always very popular. Visitors are welcome (small entry payment required).
