Lauren & Kit at Yorebridge House.

An intimate wedding in the heart of North Yorkshire, surrounded by rolling countryside, close family, beautiful music and the kind of relaxed atmosphere that makes a day feel completely personal.

These two wanted their photos to feel like little glimpses into the day rather than anything too staged, which is always exactly where I’m happiest. A quiet ceremony in front of the house, drinks in the gardens, a vintage car moment, sheep in the meadow, and a candlelit evening inside the Orangery.

Sofie and Mike’s beautiful wedding at Scarlet Hall.

One of those warm, cosy, joy-filled days where the whole place just felt alive. Scarlet Hall has such a special feeling to it, grand and intimate all at once, and these two filled it with family, candlelight, laughter, music, great food, and so many lovely little personal touches.

You don’t hate the idea of having wedding photos taken.
You hate the idea of being made to feel awkward while they are being taken. That is usually
what couples mean when they tell me they are not very photogenic.
My approach is simple. I will guide when it helps, but I am never trying to turn your wedding
into a photoshoot. Most of the time, I am looking for the real stuff. The reactions, the
atmosphere, the little moments, the people you love, and the parts of the day you did not
even see happening.
Wedding photos should feel stylish, but they should still feel like you.
Save this if you are worried about feeling awkward in your wedding photos.

Just got engaged? First of all, congratulations.

Before the wedding planning takes over, take a breath and enjoy the fact that this has actually happened.

Here are 7 things worth doing early on:

1. Celebrate the two of you first
Before venues, guest lists and Pinterest boards, just enjoy the moment together.
2. Tell your closest people personally
Before it goes on Instagram, let the important people hear it from you.
3. Have a simple answer ready
When everyone starts asking wedding questions, try:
“We’re just enjoying being engaged at the moment and taking our time with the planning.”
4. Talk about what kind of engagement you actually want
Do you want to plan straight away, take your time, have a big wedding, something smaller, or go abroad?
5. Save ideas, but don’t let inspiration become pressure
Focus less on creating a perfect mood board and more on how you want the day to feel.
6. Think gently about the practical bits
Budget, guest numbers, ring insurance and priorities are worth chatting about early, but they don’t need to become a stressful spreadsheet on day one.
7. Don’t let wedding planning take over your relationship
The wedding is one day. The relationship is the point.

There’s no perfect way to do this. Take your time, enjoy it, and build the day around what actually matters to the two of you.

And when you do start thinking about photography, choose someone whose work feels like the kind of day you actually want to have.

Your photos are shaped by how your day feels.

If you feel rushed, over-directed, or like you’re constantly being pulled away from your guests, that feeling can show up in the images.

If you feel present, comfortable and like yourselves, that shows too.

That’s why I work in a way that protects the flow of the day while still creating photographs that feel beautiful and elevated.

Loved these quieter moments of Lily getting ready in Yarm. The rain was pouring outside, but inside everything felt calm, emotional and full of anticipation. These slower parts of a wedding day always stay with me just as much as the big moments. Timeless, beautiful and full of feeling.

Love reels like this because they let you see a wedding day exactly as I’m experiencing it while I’m shooting.

From the boat ride across Lake Como, to the ceremony at Villa Monastero in Varenna, to being back out on the water with the two of them afterwards, this one was such a dream to photograph.

Beautiful setting of course, but more than that, it just felt calm, emotional and full of those little moments that make a wedding day what it is.
