Something a little different from my usual photography!
Over the past few months I've became involved with Liverpool RAYNET, supporting events in the local area and learning more about amateur radio communications.
It's been great to be part of such a friendly team of volunteers who are passionate about radio and, having gained my amateur radio licence to use the radio, it's been fun getting to combine a new hobby with my photography.
Behind every successful communications operation is a dedicated team of volunteers. Liverpool RAYNET is fortunate to have a highly committed group of operators who willingly give their time, skills and experience to support local events and benefit the wider community.
The support we provide at events such as Rainford Walking Day extends far beyond simply supplying radios. Effective communications require careful planning, preparation and coordination long before the event takes place. This includes developing communications plans, allocating operators to key locations, preparing and testing equipment, establishing operating procedures and ensuring that all resources are ready to deliver a reliable service on the day.
Our volunteers often begin their work many hours before participants arrive, setting up communications networks, conducting equipment checks and ensuring that every aspect of the operation is fully prepared. Throughout the event they remain on duty, maintaining constant communications between organisers, marshals and support teams, helping to ensure the safe and efficient management of the event.

Our volunteers are not only skilled radio operators; they are community-minded individuals who understand the importance of public service, teamwork and supporting others. Their professionalism, dedication and willingness to assist are what make Liverpool RAYNET a trusted partner for local organisations and event organisers.
