A Thank You I Don't Know How to Fully Put Into Words...

I've been putting off looking at this campaign properly. Asking for help has never come easily to me, and even after posting it, I didn't know how I'd feel seeing the response. I still don't have the right words for it... but I have to try.

I am completely blown away.

The shares, the comments, the messages, the donations... every single one has meant more than you know.

Seeing this community show up for me the way you have has genuinely changed how I understand what we built together.

A journalist also got in touch to ask about my condition and how photography has been helping, which you can read here too if you're interested (link below).

I hope it raises awareness of FND (Functional Neurological Disorder) and NEAD (Non-Epileptic Attack Disorder), and that it helps bring about some dedicated research into treatment. (I've also put a link below to a Harvard article on the disability that I've found useful)

Any extra shares of my GoFundMe campaign you can manage are helping this reach a wider audience, (link 🔗 now in bio! 🤦‍♀️) and I have to hope it means anyone else going through something similar feels a little less alone in navigating it all.

I've been thinking today about the kindness of strangers (and an incredible community)....

Who's shown you a small act of kindness and lifted you up a little when you've struggled?

HUGE huge thanks to all who showed up for the flash sale on Thursday to help me out, set up, clear away, hold my hand and get me through the emotional experience of selling my equipment.

I'm looking at it as a re-homing exercise, and am focusing on how everything I've let go will, I hope, bring joy and usefulness to someone else.

There are still a few bits and pieces and I'll post about them as soon as I can once I've recovered from this experience.

After encouragment from many people, I also opened a GoFundMe a few days ago which I haven't had chance to go and look at yet, but if you have been able to donate, a MASSIVE thank you.

Every penny or pound really does help. It will give me the space, time and opportunity to access possibilities for treatment so that I can adjust, adapt and figure out a new plan.

Probably one of the MOST vulnerable and uncomfortable things I've ever done... asking for help.

Rachel has built a beloved community around analogue photography with Little Vintage Photography over the past 15 years, but a recent diagnosis of a neurological disability causing seizures, loss of speech and episodes of paralysis, means she needs support to keep it going whilst she works out a new plan...

She’s facing the costs of treatment, transportation, and maintaining her darkroom and community so If you’re able, please consider donating or sharing to help her get the care she needs and keep her creative, educational space and practice going.

Hey folks! Well, it's been a minute since I've been online.

This year has been extra challenging in lots of ways and I'll put another post out soon, but the long and short of it is this...

I've been diagnosed with a neurological disability that causes seizures, loss of speech and episodes of paralysis.

It is making life (and especially running my business and caring for my 5yr old daughter) pretty tough.

In theory, I may be able to recover given time and proper treatment, but so far this hasn't been possible or accessible to me from the NHS.

I dearly want to keep my business going in the meantime, so that I can come back healthy and healed, but as we all know, if you're self-employed, there's no sick pay safety net (yet the bills still keep going out).

So... The upshot is, a flash sale of film photography and darkroom equipment, along with some lighting kit and super 8 / cine gear too.

A few people have also mentioned I should set up a GoFundMe but I haven't got that far yet. I'll keep you posted if / when I manage it, incase you'd prefer to help out that way (if you're able).
