That’s it, the final 2 rolls of a season long project have been sent for development.
An idea to teach myself more about photography, through the lens of a film camera, having never shot film before, developed into a project to capture the first season at the new ground entirely on film. As a creative choice, I restricted it to purely black and white.
Over the summer, I’ll be drawing that work together, with the intention of producing something that represents that body of work properly. I’m not quite decided on what form that will take yet, but when I’m happy with it, I’ll put it out into the world.
It’s been a massive learning experience, learning about different film stocks, how to shoot film, how to expose correctly for different films, how to adjust and compensate, even learning how to be far more patient with things, to slow down. I didn’t apply that lesson at the derby, and it cost me, a rolls worth of captures that will never been seen again because I rushed loading the camera.
Thank you to everyone who’s supported the black and white film project over the season, anyone I’ve quizzed, the group chat that answered so many questions. I’m incredibly grateful.
