Spend some time today restoring this old photo. It's from a gentleman in Cardiff, showing his school team. Didn't want to over do it, or add any colour.

I hadn't planned on taking any photos today, and haven't done so for a while. I was doing some work at the Llantwit Major Surf Life Saving Club updating their honour boards (signwriting), which I do more of than taking photos these days. So took the chance to take a few 'snaps'. A beautiful day as it turned out, but as you can see it has suffered from the recent weather. I can walk here in no time from my house, and should do it more often. But not through the meadow as it was a lake.

Something a little different. Using my own photographs of places near to home, I have been experimenting with a bit of digital 'painting'. Working with some AI software, I have been looking at ways of creating realistic 'painterly' images. These are created 100% digitally, and with major help from AI technology.

Some images I took of 'Verity' when docked at Ilfracombe harbour on Sunday. 2 images taken on the way down the Bristol Channel, and 2 on the way back just around sunset.
Verity is a 66 foot stainless steel and bronze sculpture named Verity, created by world famous artist Damien Hirst, and stands on the pier at the entrance to the harbour looking out over the Bristol Channel towards South Wales. It has been loaned to the town for 20 years. The name of the piece refers to “truth” and Hirst describes his work as a “modern allegory of truth and justice”.

I had an enjoyable voyage along the Bristol Channel to Lundy Island via PS Waverley which is the last seagoing passenger-carrying paddle steamer in the world. Here are some images from my trip. I do have a few more from the short journey down to the Island which I will post soon.

New version edited today, and my original older image with the flowers. Took a while to remove some of the distractions, added extra hair, adjust arm position and make a simpler, better composed image.

Edited these this week, but the photos taken some 13 years ago. The original images are in the comments. Despite using the latest editing software and some AI they still took over an hour each to edit,

I edited this image today. I took this image 15 years ago and will post the original in the comments below. Using a very 'minimal' amount of AI to create a stone for the model to rest on, a pond and more interesting background. The model, Holly, is unaltered as is her outfit. What I have done in addition is more traditional digital colour grading and sharpening, which any fashion photographer would use.

I've recently been testing some of Adobe's AI software which is incredible. As always, there isn't just a click button to 'Photoshop' the image and the results aren't immediate. But using AI and less than an hour to create, the image in a field was created today, but my original image (with the rusty background) was created on 28th October 2009. Same person, but over 13yrs difference in time.

Agapanthus – I always love seeing these at this time of year, even though they are not what most people would describe as beautiful. I find them beautiful. Nature is amazing when you know that what is seen here will produce conventionally beautiful plants come the summer.

‘Echium pininana’ – Even in winter, nature still offers much to photograph. I took this series of images yesterday. This biennial looks quite spiderlike during winter, but is a gorgeous plant in the summer months and grows around 8 foot tall. It reminds me of a Dr Who creature or a trifid. Another name for this plant is Giant viper's bugloss. It is native to the Canary Islands.
