New work:

No.1 Simon Rogan on Grange fell, overlooking the village of Cartmel and his three star .

Last year I was photographing a commercial printer for and came across some A3 and A2 ‘magazine’ style print books they had printed. To cut a very long story short, this set into motion an idea which, along with from and Mateusz from resulted in the One Dish book project for Simon Rogan’s .

For me, restaurants are as much about people as they are food and as this is the 20th anniversary year of Lenclume we decided to celebrate the amazing staff of L’Enclume and showcase some of the beautiful locations around Cartmel. The premise was to follow the story of a single dish but also to use some creative license and a little humour. Prop stylist and art director .mcpherson was instrumental in bringing this together and along with made shooting in the cold and wet much less miserable than it might have been otherwise.

I will post more of these over the coming weeks and will also include the BTS images to show how they were done. In this shot it took both Lydia and Lisa all their effort to stop the octabox flying off the hillside! And remember, they were shot for A2 print, not for smart phones.

Chamomile cake and cobnut cream, candied pumpkin, pumpkin juice and sea buckthorn.

Forgot to post this beauty earlier this year, the dish, ceramics and painted stone are pure L’Enclume.

New work:

On an allotment in south-east London run by Action for Refugees in Lewisham, Chi Chi Amelo tends to the plants and enjoys the company of others. Her status is now settled, after a 10 year limbo but for others the garden is a place to be at peace and to relax while they too wait for permission to remain. Many here are refugees, some have fled conflict or have been targeted because of their s*x or religion.

For Chi Chi, the allotment has provided a family when her own is thousands of miles away. ‘The other allotment users have become my family, and having their support has helped me through the hardest times,’ she says. ‘It’s truly been my sanctuary. And now when I get my food parcel and it contains the vegetables that I’ve helped to grow, I have a sense of pride. I feel I belong here, and the work I’m doing is giving something back to the community that’s welcomed me.’
