This one was taken from the top of St Mary's Church tower in Islington whilst on a guided tour that took me back over the history of the church spanning more than a thousand years.

After climbing the 120 very narrow steps to the top of the tower I looked out over the spectacular view of London, my eyes travelled over the buildings and up towards the clouds settling on a set of wispy clouds in the shape of an angel.

In that moment I knew I was right where I was supposed to be. It was beautiful.

This photographs was taken while I was on assignment in Qunu, South Africa, working on a story about the village where Nelson Mandela grew up.

As we were leaving for the day we saw a group of boys playing football (or soccer as it's called in SA) on a hill overlooking the village. The sunset behind the footballers caught the dust as their feet moved quickly across the dry grass chasing the ball.

Every time I look at this photograph I can still feel that dry, dusty heat and hear the excitement in the voices of the footballers as they scored a goal.

This heron photograph is one of my favourites from a recent walkabout at Bushy Park. I'm not sure how long I was bird watching, but I was lucky enough to watch as it caught a decent sized fish.

I was not only impressed by the size of the catch but learnt a thing or two about patience and focus.

I took this photograph while working on a photo story in Qunu, a village in South Africa's Eastern Cape where Nelson Mandela grew up. I was waiting to interview one of the village elders who knew Mandela as a young boy when I saw these two women walking towards me.

It was close to midday, the light was awful, but I couldn't resist this image.

I went for a little walk around Bushy Park... 3 hours later I had watched (and of course, photographed) a heron catch a fish, spent some time with a green woodpecker and photographed some beautiful stags.

The deer rut is in full swing at the moment and it's fascinating to watch and the roaring stags are amazing to listen to.

Pretty pictures are lovely, but theres something very powerful about a photograph that truly inspires you. Images that stir or settle your soul each and every time you look at it. Reminds you who you really are and the unlimited possibilities that lie in front of you.

Those are the images we should be surrounding ourselves with.

The Queen’s coffin, followed by King Charles III, Princess Ann, Prince Andrew and Princes William and Harry, leaves Buckingham Palace on its way to Westminster Hall.

Thousands of people made their way to Westminster Hall, after queuing for hours, to see the Queen lying in State. Yellow wrist bands were shown to security guards as they climbed the steps of Lambeth Bridge.

Almost every summer afternoon in Johannesburg storm clouds gather on the horizon for one of nature’s best displays of power and beauty.

On this afternoon I was working on a story in the east of Johannesburg, we had what we needed and were about to head back into the city when the light began to change, the clouds rolled in as if from nowhere and the air was charged with energy.

There was an epic thunderstorm on its way.

My colleague and I couldn't help but stop and take in the sheer power and beauty of this moment. I hope this inspires you the same way it inspired us.

Lightning strikes, Onemana, New Zealand.

I absolutely love photographing lightning, it's so unpredictable - you never know what you're going to get or whether you're going to get anything at all. There's so much working against you that when you do manage to capture it, it's the best feeling.

This one was captured late one evening while I was hanging out with my brother, Andrew, in a beach house in Onemana. We heard thunder, grabbed our camera gear, ran outside and despite the huge rain drops I managed to get this image.

Sunset over St Paul's Cathedral on the hottest day in London ever.

The sky was hazy and it wasn't quite the sunset I was hoping for, but just after 9pm it started to rain and the heat finally broke, a very welcome relief to the crazy heat as the UK passed 40C for the first time.
