Part three of drawing LGBT cards and painting them. Today is Neil Patrick Harris. Most commonly known for his role as “Barney” in HIMYM He is quite the acclaimed actor. I found a lot of pictures of him in suits and very clean cut obviously taken for HIMYM, however this photo, taken for the cover of Rolling Stones magazine I felt showcased a bit more individuality.
In my research my favourite quote by him was this one:

People Magazine, November 3, 2006: "Rather than ignore those who choose to publish their opinions without actually talking to me, I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love."

And did you know, he Drank so many red bulls on the set of HIMYM that red bull actually gifted him a lifetime supply and a red bull fridge!

Continuing on my TikTok series painting LGBT cards we have part two… Frank Ocean. Frank, American singer songwriter and rapper from New Orleans. Frank wrote an open letter that preemptively addressed alleged homosexual rumours which he published on his tumblr blog (wow tumblr what a throwback). Stating that now he feels free, with no e secrets to hide.
I struggled with this one as I’ve never painted a dark skin model before but i am fairly happy with the outcome. I think it was ambitious to pick a full upper body portrait to replicate but the whole point of this series is to push myself to do better and try new techniques. Let me know what you think of the art compared to the original picture ❤️

Starting a new TikTok series! Drawing a card from a deck of pride cards and drawing the person on it! The first winner was Chaz Bono. Chaz is the trans son of Sonny Bono and Cher. Chaz originally was outed as a le***an before his transition in the late nineties. Chaz then came out in his personally circle before coming out publically and having his transition legally recognised in the early 2010’s. Chaz reports that Cher was initially very uncomfortable with the idea of him transitioning which is an unfortunate reality for most trans people. Eventually Cher came around to the idea and was supportive, however he remained estranged to his republican congressman father until his fathers death.

Drew this after being inspired listening to the song by “Hi Ren”. The song is about his struggle with psychosis and PTSD and I wanted to demonstrate the struggle of having a mental health issue and how terrifying it can be. I’m not sure I did what I was aiming for but I’m still pretty proud of it.
