The fourth story in my series for The Sunday Times Magazine features C. H***e & Co. Established in 1672, the bank is actually older than the Bank of England.

You’d never guess what lies behind the door. From the outside, it looks like any other entrance, but inside is a beautiful, almost hidden treasure filled with paintings, antique furniture, and incredible character.

It was a wonderful place to photograph one of those shoots where you constantly spot new details around you.

The third story from the series I shot for The Sunday Times Magazine is Barbour.

It’s not often I get to photograph somewhere I’m actually a customer of. I’ve been wearing one of their jackets for over a decade, so seeing how they’re made, meeting the people who make them and watching the repairs being done was really interesting.

A really enjoyable shoot, and great to see a very successful business that still feels like a family business, with generations of the same families working there, from fathers and sons to the next generation.

The second story from my series for The Sunday Times Magazine: Lock & Co. on St James’s Street, the world’s oldest hat shop, established in 1676.

As someone who has always had a thing for hats, walking into Lock & Co. was a bit like being a child in an ice cream shop. Everywhere I looked, there was another hat I wanted to try on.

Over the centuries, they’ve made hats for everyone from Winston Churchill to Charlie Chaplin, and the shop still has that incredible sense of history and craft.

It was a real pleasure to spend time there and photograph the people, the details and the character of the place.

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a series of images for Sunday Times Magazine, documenting some of Britain’s longest-standing family businesses.

The first stop was RJ Balson & Son in Bridport, Dorset, a family-run butcher that has been trading since 1515 and has passed its craft down through more than 25 generations.

There’s something quite special about photographing a place with that much history, where the work, the people and the surroundings still feel deeply connected to the generations that came before.

I love being commissioned for projects like this, especially when I’m already a customer and have a real connection with the brand. I was lucky enough to hear the story of how it all started.

In a nutshell, two university flatmates quit their jobs and decided to start a coffee company. Fast forward a few years, and here they are, with Black Sheep Coffee literally on every corner!

It’s always great to meet the people behind the brands we know and love.
