Wai was sentenced to 10 years in prison and Yuen to 8 years after being found guilty of assisting a foreign intelligence service under the UK National Security Act. Members of the Hong Kong community in the UK staged a protest outside the court after the hearing, expressing support for the court’s decision and raising concerns about alleged Chinese state-linked espionage activities in UK.
