F O C U S
There's a lot of noise out there at the moment. A lot of changes in the industry. The customers, the suppliers, the audience for the work. The underlying theme of it all seems to be a fear of how quickly everything is changing now. After 12 years of doing this I've never seen the industry scramble for purchase so much. It looks like people are trying everything to stay relevant, seen, appreciated, and most importantly booked for work.
But if you're trying to please everyone, offer every gimmick under the sun, lean into every trend other people tell you is the one, then what is it you actually offer? Is it an experience? Is it special? Is it unique? No. It's not.
As they say, "comparison is the thief of joy" , so I've stopped looking and stopped caring about what anyone does, thinks, charges, produces. It's irrelevant and has no bearing on the work I create for my couples. That's between them and me. If I love it, they love it. That's got me this far.
So now it's time to double down on what I want to do. Get super focused on my product, connect with couples and suppliers who reflect my values. I have zero time for anything else.
In the last 18 months I became a father and set up a new business ( give us a follow! ) So my already valuable time is now at an absolute premium. So everything I do with Together We Go has to matter. I simply don't have the time to waste on things that don't connect to me and the work I want to do here.
"So why are you wasting your time on Instagram screaming into the void, Leo" Well, that's a good question. I guess Instagram is still my "Shop window" but a lot of what I was doing here just felt like chasing my tale. Lost and scrambling like everyone else. So I took a break for a few months and do you know what happened?.... absolutely nothing. I still have the bookings I want with the couples and vendors I want to collaborate with.
I feel refreshed and clear headed now. Ready for my season and with the mindset that I'm only going to do work that pleases me. Keep it simple. Just offer an outstanding product and service to my couples.
Everything else is a distraction.
