Some of the most memorable meals don’t begin in a restaurant.

They begin with the people who have spent generations perfecting their craft.

While exploring Sardinia, I spent the morning with Gionata, one of the last goat herders in the Barbagia region. We watched him make fresh ricotta from the morning’s milk, roast traditional porceddu over an open fire, and later sat together with locals to share the food he’d prepared.

There was no performance. No carefully curated experience. Just tradition, generosity, and a way of life that’s becoming increasingly rare.

It’s moments like these that remind me that the best journeys aren’t only about the places you visit, but the people who invite you into their world.

It’s the walk down through the cliffs. The first glimpse of the water. The wild pigs wandering through the trees. The kind of place that stays with you long after you’ve left.
