Kalinga Architectural Marvel of India’s Heritage, a masterpiece of Odisha's medieval architecture.😍
Konark Sun temple is located in East Odisha near the sacred city of Puri. This temple widely not only known for its Architectural Grandeur but also for the Intricacy and Profusion of Sculptor Work.
The Word Konark is a combination of two words “Kona” and “Arka”. Kona means “Corner” and Arka means “Sun”.
This temple was built by 13th Century King Narasimhadeva 1 of Eastern Ganga Dynasty in 1250 CE

4. It is said that King Narasimha Deva hired a Chief Architect named Bisu Maharana to build the temple. This temple comprises a Sanctum with a lofty Sikara, a Jaganamohana and a detached Nata Mandira (Hall used for Dancing) ins same Axis and is constructed from Khondalite rocks.
5. The Konark Sun temple is designed in shape of a Colossal Chariot, carved STone Wheels, Pillars and Walls.
6. The temple is set on a high base. There are detailed carvings. There are 12 pairs of gigantic wheels sculpted with spokes and hubs representing the chariot wheels of the sun god. The whole temple resembles a processional chariot.
7. The wheel of the temple are Sundials which can be used to calculate time accurately to a Minute including Day and Night. Some say the wheels represent the 24 hours in a day and others say the 12 months.
8. The seven Horses of The Chariot said to Sybolise Seven Days of The Week.
This is temple is also one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites declared in the Year 1984
Konarak is the invaluable link in the history of the diffusion of the cult of Surya, which originating in Kashmir during the 8th century, finally reached the shores of Eastern India
